In Star Trek Fleet Command, you can upgrade multiple tiers of a technology project at once by using the Bulk Research feature inside your Research building. This tool consolidates available node levels into a single transaction, letting you calculate and pay all required resource and speed-up costs upfront instead of manually completing each tier.
How to Queue Multiple Tiers
To initiate a bulk research sequence:
- Open your Research building and choose the tech tree and project you want to advance.
- Select the project to open its upgrade menu. If multiple consecutive tiers are available, the interface displays a bulk selection option or slider.
- Adjust the selector to the number of tiers you intend to complete.
- Review the combined totals calculated by the system for completion time, speed-ups, Latinum, and resources such as Parsteel, Tritanium, Dilithium, or specialized components.
- Confirm the transaction to deduct the combined costs and begin the batch upgrade.
Requirements and Limitations
Bulk Research changes how quickly you can process upgrades, but it remains bound by standard game progression mechanics:
- Prerequisite gates remain active: You cannot bulk-upgrade tiers locked behind incomplete prerequisite research nodes or unmet Operations level requirements.
- Upfront resource costs: The entire sum of Parsteel, Tritanium, Dilithium, and specialized items is required at the moment you confirm the batch.
- Storage limits: Verify your warehouse capacity before starting a bulk batch to ensure your storage caps can support the total required cost.
- Research queue occupation: Queueing multiple long-duration tiers without using speed-ups will lock your Research building until the full combined time completes.
- Event tracking: When completing research for active event milestones, consider testing a small bulk queue first to confirm how the event calculates point payouts for batch completions.

I tried this today and it worked better than my old setup.
This guide answered the exact question I had.
I wish I had read this before upgrading the wrong thing.
Nice guide. I am checking the other Star Trek Fleet Command articles next.
