In Star Wars™: KOTOR II, Kreia's ultimate goal is to break the Force's control over sentient life while using the Jedi Exile to eliminate both the reconstituted Jedi Council and the Sith Triumvirate. Her actions throughout the campaign lead to a final test on Malachor V, where she seeks to prove that mortal choice can exist independently of the Force's will.

Why Kreia Mentors the Jedi Exile

Kreia focuses on the Exile because the Exile survived the activation of the Mass Shadow Generator at Malachor V by instinctively cutting personal ties to the Force. Where other Jedi died or went mad from the resulting shockwave, the Exile continued to live without the Force's connection.

To Kreia, this survival proves three things:

  • Independence from the Force: A person can retain intellect, purpose, and moral agency without relying on the Force.
  • Strength through bonds: As the Exile travels, their connection returns through bonds formed with crew members rather than passive submission to destiny.
  • Conscious choice: Whether the Exile acts with mercy, ruthlessness, or pragmatism, those decisions validate Kreia's belief that mortal will matters more than cosmic control.

Why She Targets Darth Nihilus and Darth Sion

After training Darth Nihilus and Darth Sion at the Trayus Academy on Malachor V, Kreia was betrayed and stripped of her power. She orchestrates their downfall because she views their use of the dark side as destructive and philosophically empty:

  • Darth Nihilus: As a living wound in the Force, Nihilus is enslaved to a hunger that consumes entire worlds, as shown by the devastation of Katarr. Kreia guides the Exile to confront him aboard the Ravager above Telos before his craving can devour all life in the galaxy.
  • Darth Sion: Sion sustains his physical immortality through constant agony and hatred, leaving him in a hollow, reactive existence. Kreia directs the Exile to break Sion's resolve within Malachor V, ending her former apprentices' corrupted Sith lineage.

Why She Confronts the Jedi Council on Dantooine

Kreia also manipulates the Exile into gathering the surviving Jedi Masters—including Vrook Lamar, Kavar, and Zez-Kai Ell—at the rebuilt Enclave on Dantooine. She wants to force a reckoning with an order she considers blind to its own failures.

In Kreia's view, the Masters treat the Force as an absolute moral compass, blame their fallen students for the Mandalorian Wars while ignoring their own inaction, and fear the Exile's condition rather than trying to understand it. When the Council attempts to strip the Exile of the Force at the Enclave, Kreia intervenes and severs the Masters from the Force instead, removing the rival faction from the galaxy's future.

How Kreia Plans to Strike at the Force

Kreia perceives the Force not as a benevolent guide, but as a semi-sentient manipulator that forces light and dark into endless cycles of war to maintain balance. Her plan to end that influence relies on Force echoes.

The destruction at Malachor V created a lingering reverberation that deafened those sensitive enough to hear it. Because the Exile is a living wound in the Force who transmits ripples through companion bonds, Kreia theorizes that amplifying this wound can send an echo across the galaxy, tearing the Force away from living beings without killing them.

What the Final Test on Malachor V Accomplishes

At the Trayus Academy on Malachor V, Kreia reclaims the title of Darth Traya to force a final confrontation with the Exile. She frames the battle so her broader purpose succeeds either way:

  1. If the Exile defeats her, her student proves that someone freed from traditional dependence on the Force can surpass both the Jedi Council and the Sith Triumvirate, then continue into the Unknown Regions to face the true Sith threat.
  2. If the Exile fails, Kreia proves her student was not ready while still reasserting her superiority over the apprentices who betrayed her.

Before dying, Kreia uses farsight to share the future of the galaxy and the Exile's companions, leaving the Exile to move forward by personal will rather than Jedi or Sith dogma.
