To establish a powerful account early in State of Survival, prioritize rushing your Headquarters (HQ) over upgrading your entire base evenly. Keep resource crates safely in your inventory to avoid becoming a target for raids, invest initial hero materials into Sarge and Rusty, and join a high-ranking alliance immediately to secure passive build acceleration and rally rewards.

Rush Headquarters Prerequisites Instead of Leveling Symmetrically

Upgrading every farm, lumber mill, and secondary building before advancing your Headquarters severely stalls progression. Settlement power, march queue capacity, rally sizes, and troop tiers depend directly on your HQ level. Moving up troop tiers—such as advancing from Tier 4 to Tier 7—provides major multipliers to attack, defense, and lethality. A rushed base fielding higher-tier troops consistently outperforms a symmetrical, lower-tier settlement.

To upgrade your HQ quickly, follow these rules:

  • Inspect upgrade requirements: Open the Headquarters upgrade menu to identify the exact mandatory prerequisites for the next tier. These typically require the Wall, the Hero Precinct, and one designated training camp or economic structure.
  • Skip secondary structures: Delay leveling extra hospital beds, excess resource plots, and warehouse extensions until your HQ reaches higher milestone levels with longer build times.
  • Maintain construction flow: Keep your main builder queue active on these prerequisites without diverting time to nonessential projects.

Keep Resource Crates in Your Backpack to Prevent Raids

Resources exposed inside your settlement can be plundered by rival players once they exceed your Warehouse protection limit. Storing millions of exposed food, wood, and metal makes your settlement a prime target for enemy scouts and attacks.

Unopened resource crates stored in your backpack cannot be looted:

  1. Leave crates sealed: Do not open supply bundles or resource chests upon collecting them from events, mail, or quests.
  2. Calculate upgrade deficits: Check the exact cost of your pending construction project, research node, or troop training batch.
  3. Open only the required amount: Consume just enough crates from your backpack to meet the immediate cost deficit.
  4. Remain an empty target: Keeping exposed resources below your Warehouse protection cap removes the incentive for hostile players to raid your base.

Invest Early Materials into Sarge and Rusty

Spreading hero fragments and Combat Manuals across multiple unranked or partially unlocked legendary heroes leaves your combat marches underpowered. Legendary heroes require substantial fragment investments to rank up star levels and unlock passive abilities, making them inefficient in early play.

Focus your early progression on the reliable starting heroes:

  • Sarge: Serves as your primary backline damage dealer. His deployable gun turret provides sustained ranged damage in Explorer Trail stages and infected horde defense without causing permanent troop casualties.
  • Rusty: Acts as your frontline tank. He absorbs incoming enemy attacks during combat and offers an economic passive boost to metal gathering speed on the wilderness map.
  • Fragment preservation: Hold epic and legendary fragment boxes in your inventory until you unlock an established, high-tier hero you can upgrade immediately.

Join a Top Alliance and Target Daily Stamina

Securing a spot in one of your state's top 5 to 10 alliances provides essential passive bonuses and safety. Allied players can tap the help icon to shave minutes or percentages off your active construction and research timers, reducing the need to spend speedup items. Furthermore, alliance members running Infected Fiend rallies generate alliance gift chests containing Chief EXP, speedups, and hero search maps for all members, regardless of who joined the march.

To maximize your stamina efficiency alongside alliance activity:

  • Clear Radar Station missions first: Complete incoming radar tasks whenever they refresh to earn speedups, materials, and hero fragments.
  • Rally Infected Fiends: Spend remaining stamina joining or initiating alliance rallies against Infected Fiends instead of solo hunting weak wilderness infected. Fiends yield superior loot, including biocaps, hero gear parts, and alliance chests.
  • Prevent stamina capping: Never allow your Chief Stamina bar to sit full, as passive regeneration stops whenever the bar reaches its limit.
