The Strategic Deployment feature in State of Survival allows you to save march configurations for quick dispatch, but relying on default auto-fill settings can ruin your combat performance. The deployment trap occurs when the system automatically pulls lower-tier units to fill capacity, dilutes your formation ratios, or locks your premier heroes and support units into minor queues.
To fix this, rebuild your march presets manually to enforce strict troop tiers, dedicate specific commanders to primary combat queues, and separate gathering marches from combat formations.
Resolve Auto-Fill and Troop Tier Dilution
When top-tier troop pools run low during sustained warfare, default Strategic Deployment settings often fill remaining march capacity with lower-tier units. Mixing units like T9 with T11 dilutes your Chief Gear buffs and hero combat multipliers, significantly weakening your march.
Take the following steps to protect combat effectiveness:
- Turn off low-tier auto-fill: Configure your preset settings to draw only your highest available troop tier. If high-tier reserves run out, do not allow the system to substitute lower tiers into offensive or defense queues.
- Keep reserve troop pools stocked: Maintain enough high-tier Infantry, Riders, and Hunters so that consecutive marches do not dip below full deployment capacity.
- Isolate gathering queues: Never assign high-tier troops or combat heroes to resource-gathering slots. Create distinct gathering presets using only low-tier units so your primary offensive forces remain inside your settlement.
Structure Presets by Combat Role
Do not use a single, generic preset for all battle types. Strategic Deployment offers multiple slots that should each correspond to a specific tactical responsibility during events like Capital Clash, Fortress fights, and State vs. State (SvS).
| Preset Role | Unit Focus | Tactical Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Primary Rally Leader | Heavy Infantry buffer, balanced Hunters | Absorbs initial wave damage while maximizing lethality and rally attack buffs. |
| Fast Solo Skirmish | Elevated Rider ratio | Maximizes march speed for cross-map intercepts and rapid hits on exposed targets. |
| Garrison Defense | Heavy Infantry and sustained backline | Resists multi-wave attrition and holds alliance buildings or settlements. |
| Rally Joiner | Direct match to rally leader instructions | Supplies pure stats without skewing the rally leader's intended formation ratios. |
Avoid Hero and Support Unit Lockouts
Registering your strongest commanders or high-value support units to non-combat presets creates accidental lockouts. If your primary heroes are assigned to a preset used for minor tasks, scouting, or secondary marches, they become unavailable when an alliance rally launches.
- Assign your best hero trio only to Slot 1: Reserve your premier hero team exclusively for your primary offensive rally or skirmish preset.
- Use secondary heroes for utility: Assign secondary commanders to backup presets, event tasks, and gathering queues.
- Bind advanced support assets to primary marches: Attach high-investment support units, such as Behemoths and Aircraft, strictly to your main combat march rather than spreading them across secondary queues.
Audit Presets Before War Events
Preset configurations should be updated whenever your settlement advances. Upgrading Chief Gear, resetting Chief War Talents, or unlocking a new generation of heroes alters your base combat statistics and optimal march configurations.
Before participating in major combat events such as Reservoir Raid or Capital Clash, open your War Room and clear outdated presets. Rebuild each formation to match your updated hero skill trees and gear bonuses. Send a test march against an infected target or alliance exercise objective to confirm that the deployment loads the exact hero leads, troop tiers, and unit counts you intended.
