No amount of Mystical Scrolls guarantees that you will pull an entire newly released monster family across all three main elements in Summoners War. Even burning through a massive stockpile such as 6,500 Mystical Scrolls can leave you missing a specific Fire, Water, or Wind natural five-star monster. Because the game has no hard pity threshold, completing a trio requires managing statistical variance, utilizing Special Summon banners, and cycling duplicate pulls into Splendid Blessings.

Summon Rates and Expected Value

Mystical Scrolls feature a base natural five-star (Nat 5) summon rate of 0.5%, which averages roughly one Nat 5 per 200 scrolls. Over a massive sample of 6,500 scrolls, the statistical expected value is roughly 32 to 33 Nat 5 monsters.

However, expected averages do not shield an account from variance:

  • No Hard Pity: Summoners War does not guarantee a target unit after a fixed milestone of unsuccessful summons. Every scroll rolls independently against the pool.
  • Extended Dry Streaks: Going 400 to 600 scrolls without a single Nat 5 lightning proc falls within normal statistical variance.
  • Diminishing Odds Per Element: Pulling the first new monster is common during a large session, but each unique element you acquire narrows your chances of pulling the remaining unowned variants.

How Special Summon (SP) Banners Work

Enabling the Special Summon toggle directs your summons toward the newly introduced monster family, but it does not increase the underlying 0.5% Nat 5 summon rate. Instead, it reweights the pool so that whenever lightning triggers a five-star summon, the game is more likely to choose the featured family over older catalog units.

Summon FeatureStandard Mystical SummonActive SP Rate-Up Summon
Base Nat 5 Rate0.5% (1 in 200 pulls)0.5% (1 in 200 pulls)
Pool WeightingEvenly distributed across all Nat 5sHeavily skewed toward the featured family
Nat 4 Skill-Up AcquisitionSpread across all four-star familiesConcentrated heavily on the new family
Duplicate RiskLow for a specific monsterHigh within the featured family

While the SP banner rapidly generates four-star skill-ups for the new family, it frequently yields duplicate Nat 5s of the same element before you see all three.

Offsetting Duplicates with Splendid Blessings

Converting duplicate Nat 5 pulls into Splendid Blessings of Summon is the primary mechanic for mitigating bad summon streaks:

  1. Sell Duplicate Nat 5s: Feed unneeded duplicate five-star monsters to the Ancient Shop to receive 300 Ancient Crystals each.
  2. Purchase Splendid Blessings: Buy a Splendid Blessing of Summon for 275 Ancient Crystals.
  3. Trigger Two-Choice Summons: When a Nat 5 lightning proc occurs, an active Blessing presents two monster choices instead of one.

Pairing an active Blessing with the SP rate-up doubles your exposure on each five-star hit. If one slot rolls a featured element you already own, the second slot provides an immediate alternative, greatly reducing the risk of a wasted proc.

The Cost of Chasing the Final Element

Chasing the third and final elemental variant represents the steepest efficiency drop in Summoners War.

Once you own two of the three elemental versions, any featured Nat 5 lightning proc carries a 66% chance of being a duplicate. Spending thousands of additional scrolls solely to secure that last missing element generally results in duplicate storage bloat rather than meaningful account advancement.

To protect your resource pool during a new monster launch, follow these guidelines:

  • Set a Strict Scroll Limit: Determine a fixed budget (such as 500, 1,000, or 2,000 scrolls) before pulling. Do not deplete your crystal reserves or emergency stores if a single variant refuses to appear.
  • Arm a Blessing Before Starting: Always have at least one Splendid Blessing active before initiating a mass summon session so your first Nat 5 proc offers a choice.
  • Reinvest Repeat Units Immediately: Turn early duplicate Nat 5s into Ancient Crystals right away to keep Blessings active for the remainder of your scrolls.
  • Stop After Two Elements: If you secure two of the three elemental variants, strongly consider disabling SP summon or stopping altogether. The remaining monster can eventually be acquired through the general summon pool, Transcendence Scrolls, or future events.
