To progress safely through campaign areas in Takashi Ninja Warrior, scout outer perimeters to isolate enemies, eliminate sentries with rear stealth takedowns, and unbar one-way gates to create permanent return paths before fighting fortified commanders.
Perimeter Scouting and Archer Elimination
Charging directly through the central courtyards of hostile strongholds alerts multiple enemy types at once, pulling combined pressure from melee foot soldiers and ranged snipers. Moving along the outer walls prevents you from drawing aggro from multiple patrols simultaneously.
Before engaging ground forces, survey the high ground:
- Locate elevated archers: Ranged attackers on watchtowers and parapets disrupt attack animations. Follow the perimeter boundary to find the ladder or ramp leading to their platform and eliminate them first.
- Observe patrol loops: Standard foot guards follow fixed walking patterns. Wait outside their line of sight until their backs turn before closing the distance.
Executing Stealth Takedowns
Sneaking behind an unaware guard triggers a context-sensitive execution prompt. A successful assassination instantly deletes standard guards and inflicts heavy damage on elite targets without draining health or stamina.
- Approach at a walk: Tilt the movement stick slightly to walk rather than run when entering an enemy's hearing range.
- Target the rear sentry: When encountering grouped enemies on a path, assassinate the trailing guard first so the forward scout remains unaware.
- Use execution immunity: Takashi is invulnerable during the stealth kill animation, shielding you if nearby guards begin turning around mid-attack.
Circumnavigating Obstacles and Unlocking Gates
When you encounter a gate barred from the opposite side, treat circumnavigating that gate as your primary objective. Moving through side corridors, upper rooftops, or lower ravines brings you to the inner courtyard behind the door. Flipping the latch permanently opens the path, reducing future runbacks from minutes to seconds if you fall in battle.
| Obstacle Type | Bypass Strategy | Shortcut Function |
|---|---|---|
| Barred Wooden Gate | Flank via side corridors or upper rooftops | Bypasses frontline sentry posts |
| Locked Iron Portcullis | Collect local keys or reach rear lever mechanisms | Restores a direct path to the district Shrine |
| Guarded Choke Bridge | Drop down to lower dry riverbeds or rock paths | Evades front-facing shield ambushes |
Managing Shrine Checkpoints
Resting at a Shrine fully recovers Takashi's health, but it also respawns all standard defeated enemies in the region.
To manage respawns effectively, push forward to unlock an identified shortcut latch even if your health is low. Once a gate is unbarred, it remains open permanently, allowing you to return immediately from the Shrine without reclearing the preceding encounters. Avoid backtracking across cleared territory to heal minor chip damage, as fighting newly respawned guards creates unnecessary opportunities to take lethal damage.
