To defeat Arashi in Takashi Ninja Warrior, bait his forward thrust attacks, dodge diagonally through his weapon side to get behind him, and limit your counter-attacks to two or three light strikes before resetting your distance. Blocking his heavy combinations depletes your stamina immediately, while reckless swinging gets interrupted by his hyper-armor slashes. Keep roughly two sword-lengths between you and the boss to bait his slowest recoveries, and never heal in neutral range.

Arashi's Attack Patterns and Counters

Arashi rarely flinches during neutral attacks and can chain into heavy swings without warning. Surviving neutral exchanges requires recognizing the visual startup of his core moves.

Punishing the Piercing Sprint Thrust

The linear sprint thrust is Arashi's most punishable move. Backpedaling against this attack often fails because his forward momentum covers half the arena. Punish the thrust using this sequence:

  1. Wait for the dash release: Hold your ground while Arashi lowers his stance and blade. Do not roll on the tell alone; wait for the forward movement to begin.
  2. Dodge diagonally forward: Roll forward-right past his weapon arm to slip through the hitbox and end up directly behind his recovery arc.
  3. Land a short combo: Strike his back with a strict two- or three-hit light combo. Do not attempt a fourth swing or a heavy finisher, as he will pivot and counter.
  4. Disengage immediately: Roll backward twice to return to neutral distance before he initiates a turnaround slash.

Evading the Whirlwind Flurry

Arashi’s whirlwind attack deals massive damage and features lingering hitboxes that make dodging straight through the blades dangerous.

When you see Arashi bring both hands to his shoulder and step back, immediately sprint backward to open distance. The whirlwind locks him into a forward path, allowing you to watch the attack expire safely. Once his rotation stops, Arashi enters a two-second weapon-sheathing recovery. Use this window to throw a shuriken or land a dash strike. If cornered, dodge outward at a 45-degree angle rather than directly back, as the horizontal reach tracks straight retreat paths.

Adapting to Phase Two

Depleting Arashi's health bar past 50% triggers an aura flare. In this second phase, Arashi shortens the recovery delays between attacks, chains overhead chops directly into sweep attacks, and gains a shadow dash.

  • Handling the Shadow Dash: Arashi will disappear into a smoky blur and reappear in close proximity. Avoid panic-rolling while he is invisible, as running out of stamina leaves you open to the incoming blow. Stand your ground until the red attack glint appears, then execute a single timed sidestep or backward hop.
  • Maintaining Spacing: Maintain a distance of roughly two sword-lengths. Closing in too tight prevents safe back-stabs due to his accelerated turnaround speeds. Backing too far away prompts him to chain gap-closing thrusts and shadow dashes. Mid-range baiting keeps his heavy overhead slam in rotation, which remains his slowest recovery window.

Healing Windows and Stamina Management

Arashi actively punishes neutral healing with an immediate sprint thrust. Drink from your healing gourd only during two safe states:

  • Immediately after dodging behind his heavy overhead slam, using the recovery pause to heal instead of dealing damage.
  • Across the arena after Arashi finishes his whirlwind flurry.

Always reserve at least one-third of your stamina bar strictly for evasion. Depleting your stamina to land extra hits behind Arashi prevents you from dodging his turnaround swipe, resulting in heavy, avoidable damage.
