To survive dungeon encounters in Tearscape, balance offensive strikes with strict stamina management. Limit your aggressive actions to short attack windows so you always retain enough stamina to dodge or retreat when an enemy counter-attacks.
Managing Stamina and Combo Timing
Every attack in Tearscape consumes a portion of your stamina bar. Exhausting your energy mid-strike leaves your hunter defenseless against incoming damage.
- Limit engagements to three-hit combos: Execute a maximum of three strikes before stepping back. This leaves sufficient stamina reserved for an immediate dodge roll.
- Disengage when stamina drops below 25%: Treat a low stamina bar as a critical warning. Stop attacking and create distance to allow your meter to refill.
- Circle perimeters during recovery: If your stamina meter begins flashing or nears depletion, stop forward attacks and circle the edges of the room. This forces enemies to rotate, breaking their active attack tracking and giving your meter time to regenerate.
Reading Enemy Telegraphs and Baiting Attacks
Surviving fights with dark dungeon creatures requires recognizing wind-up animations before damage occurs.
- Identify visual tells: Watch for enemies shifting their stance or emitting a brief glow. These visual cues indicate an incoming primary attack.
- Dodge backward on telegraphs: When an enemy begins a wind-up animation, roll or step backward immediately. Do not attempt to interrupt an incoming heavy strike with light attacks.
- Bait attacks at maximum weapon reach: Position your hunter near the outer edge of your weapon's reach. Stand just beyond the enemy's attack range to trigger their swing, then step forward to deliver a counter-attack as their animation finishes.
Corridor Positioning and Group Tactics
Dungeon layouts in Tearscape feature tight corridors that often trap players in multi-enemy encounters.
- Avoid backpedaling into dead ends: Keep track of the hallway layout behind you so you do not get pinned against walls or corners.
- Funnel groups single file: In narrow passages, draw enemy attention and retreat slightly into the hallway. Fighting enemies one at a time prevents overlapping attack patterns.
- Kite dense groups into open spaces: If a room contains multiple aggressive foes, pull them out of tight spaces into larger areas where you can manage your spacing safely.
- Use lateral movement to save stamina: Strafe left or right to slip past standard attacks without spending stamina. Reserve dodge rolls specifically for high-damage or unblockable attacks.
