To clear Chapter 6 Mission 1 (Lakeside) in The Walking Dead No Man's Land, anchor your fireteam around Daryl Dixon's ranged attacks while using melee survivors to hold narrow shoreline choke points. Step forward incrementally to reveal walker packs without overextending, and push steadily toward the extraction zone before turn-based threat spawns overwhelm your squad.
Squad Composition
Pair Daryl Dixon with melee survivors capable of absorbing hits, controlling crowds, and finishing weakened targets. Ranged weapons from non-specialized survivors can produce unnecessary noise that spikes the threat meter, making melee frontline support ideal for funneling walkers into Daryl's firing line.
| Survivor Class | Primary Role | Tactical Function at Lakeside |
|---|---|---|
| Hunter (Daryl Dixon) | Ranged softening & pick-offs | Eliminates lead walkers down open lanes with quiet ranged attacks. |
| Bruiser | Frontline control & tanking | Delivers sweeping blunt strikes to stun grouped walkers at choke barriers. |
| Scout or Warrior | Single-target burst & recovery | Executes stunned walkers and safely collects supply crates along the path. |
Chokepoint Navigation and Walker Engagement
Lakeside features narrow corridors bordered by natural terrain, water, and debris. Moving too far into the fog of war in a single turn triggers unrevealed walkers and risks surrounding your team. Keep your squad tightly grouped and force walkers to spend their turns moving toward your defensive line.
- Scout with partial movement: Advance your lead melee survivor only far enough to reveal the lane ahead. Reserve remaining action points for an attack, overwatch, or defensive retreat.
- Form a bottleneck: Position the frontline survivor behind narrow passages or wreckage edges. This limits walker engagement to one or two targets at a time.
- Engage with Daryl first: Fire with Daryl Dixon from two to three tiles back to soften or destroy incoming targets before they close the distance.
- Stun and execute: Use your Bruiser's sweeping attack to stun any walker that reaches your choke point, then eliminate stunned targets with your Scout or Warrior on the next turn.
Threat Management and Extraction
Every turn spent on the map advances the threat meter, which eventually triggers waves of walker reinforcements from the map edges. Balance cautious positioning with constant forward progress to reach the extraction zone before reinforcements multiply beyond your squad's action capacity.
- Limit loud combat: Rely on Daryl's standard attacks and melee weapons. Loud firearm use rapidly accelerates the threat gauge.
- Hold position during waves: If reinforcements spawn while your squad is mid-map, consolidate your survivors around Daryl in a tight perimeter rather than scattering. Clear the blockers ahead and continue moving along your route.
- Extract together: A mission only ends successfully when every surviving squad member enters the extraction zone. Clear any walkers lingering on or directly beside the evacuation tiles before moving your squad onto the extraction grid together.

I tried this today and it worked better than my old setup.
This guide answered the exact question I had.
Can you add more details about strategy in a future update?
