To beat Round 48 in the Here They Come challenge mode of The Walking Dead No Man's Land, move your squad immediately to a narrow interior chokepoint, hold your ground, and rotate crowd-control abilities to stall heavy targets while clearing standard walkers. Walker health and damage scale steeply at this tier, making open-field combat unviable.
Recommended Squad Composition
A successful run requires a balanced three-survivor fireteam that covers frontline crowd control, single-target armor elimination, and area suppression.
| Role | Preferred Class | Key Weapon Traits | Tactical Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|
| Frontline Control | Bruiser or Warrior | Stun, Wide Arc, Knockback | Anchors doorways, stuns heavy walkers, and sweeps clustered swarms. |
| Burst Damage | Scout or Shooter | High Critical, Puncture, Swift | Punches through armored walker defense and dispatches flankers. |
| Area Suppression | Hunter or Assault | Wide Spread, High Damage | Weakens advancing hordes down corridors before they reach melee range. |
Place your Bruiser or Warrior directly in the chokepoint entrance. Position your ranged survivors one to two tiles behind the frontline anchor to ensure clean lines of sight without exposing them to melee attacks.
Threat Priorities
Walkers enter from multiple perimeter spawn zones in escalating waves. To prevent the squad from being overrun, eliminate threats in this order:
- Armored Walkers: These enemies resist standard body damage and will block your melee line if left unchecked. Use charged attacks, melee stuns, or puncture weapons to bypass their armor immediately.
- Tanks and Heavy Walkers: Avoid spending an entire turn's Action Points (AP) attempting to burn down a Tank's full health pool. Apply a stun or knockback with your frontline survivor to delay the Tank, then redirect remaining attacks to clear surrounding standard walkers.
- Runners and Standard Walkers: Thin these out using area-of-effect ranged fire and wide-arc melee swings while heavy threats remain incapacitated.
Chokepoint Positioning and Map Control
Do not fight in open spaces or advance toward loot crates while spawns remain active.
- Hold Doorways and Alleys: Narrow openings limit the number of walkers that can attack your frontline survivor on any single turn, neutralizing multi-directional spawn points.
- Never Push Forward During Waves: Moving into adjacent rooms or open areas triggers additional spawn triggers and exposes survivor flanks.
- Let Walkers Advance to You: Allowing walkers to spend their turn closing distance ensures your survivors begin each round with full AP pools.
Action Point and Charge Attack Management
Careless AP usage leaves survivors stranded without defensive options. Maintain strict resource discipline every turn:
- Reserve Defensive Stances: Avoid spending all AP on basic attacks. End turns with at least one survivor in a guard or overwatch stance to counter sudden surges.
- Save Charged Attacks for Priority Targets: Do not waste charged attacks on low-health standard walkers. Reserve them exclusively for newly arrived armored walkers, tanks, or break-away runners.
- Resolve Grabs Efficiently: If a walker grapples a survivor, free them using a frontline shove or melee stun rather than burning high-damage ranged attacks. Follow up with burst damage to kill the released walker.
Once the final wave indicator triggers, maintain your defensive perimeter until the wave counter fully clears and the victory screen appears.

This guide answered the exact question I had.
I wish I had read this before upgrading the wrong thing.
I tried this today and it worked better than my old setup.
Can you add more details about strategy in a future update?
