In Tiles Survive!! Season 1, the Flooded World map completely blocks standard open-field marching by replacing land tiles with impassable water. Your immediate priority is to claim the land-bridge tiles connecting your starting zone to the rest of the map before neighboring players block your expansion.
How Flooded Terrain Restricts Troop Movement
The Flooded World mechanic transforms open terrain into impassable water barriers. Instead of marching directly toward any resource node or target, your troops are restricted to linear paths along remaining dry land.
- Water Obstacles: Areas marked as flooded cannot be crossed by standard troop marches or used for direct tile expansion.
- Linear Traversal: Your available expansion routes depend entirely on the remaining land above current water levels.
- Risk of Isolation: Failing to plot expansion routes early can leave your base landlocked, preventing access to higher-tier gathering nodes and alliance targets.
Research and Base Expansion Priorities
Because physical movement across the map is severely constrained, research and building priorities must shift from rapid map traversal to localized tile efficiency.
- Claim Land Bridges First: Invest research into faster tile acquisition to secure crucial land-bridge chokepoints before rivals take them.
- Maximize Tile Gathering Speed: Upgrade technologies that boost gathering speed and capacity so you extract maximum yield from the limited nodes within your reach.
- Upgrade Base Production Buildings: Boost internal resource generation buildings immediately. Internal resource production operates independently of map flooding and provides a reliable income buffer when external nodes are unreachable.
Alliance Positioning and Chokepoint Strategy
Controlling narrow strips of dry land requires active alliance coordination. The water acts as a natural wall, making chokepoint management the central focus of territorial defense.
- Blockade Chokepoints: Position alliance bases and territory along narrow land corridors to prevent rival players from reaching high-value zones and resource nodes.
- Water-Protected Base Placement: Relocate individual member cities into areas surrounded by water barriers. This limits the angles from which enemies can launch attacks, requiring them to approach from predictable land paths.
- Alliance Resource Sharing: Utilize alliance resource depots to supply landlocked members who cannot safely reach outer map nodes.
Combat Tactics for Narrow Corridors
The restricted map geometry changes how battles play out. Because wide flanking maneuvers are impossible on single-file land paths, combat relies heavily on static positioning.
- Use Defensive Formations: When holding a land bridge, deploy defensive, high-sustain hero teams that can absorb incoming damage in narrow corridors.
- Prioritize High-Burst Area Damage: Cramped fighting zones force enemy marches into tight groups. Area-of-effect abilities and high-burst damage heroes excel at breaking enemy lines before defenders can reinforce.
- Scout Before Relocating: Check surrounding tiles for water depth and connectivity before moving your city, as relocating out of a dead-end bottleneck is slow and resource-intensive.

I wish I had read this before upgrading the wrong thing.
Nice guide. I am checking the other Tiles Survive! articles next.
I tried this today and it worked better than my old setup.
The tips are practical and easy to follow.
