To optimize equipment crafting in the Research Institute's Cell Creation facility in Tokyo Ghoul · Break the Chains, prioritize crafting fixed attribute slots (Slots 1, 2, and 3) to lock in two-piece and four-piece set bonuses before rolling variable attribute slots (Slots 4, 5, and 6).

Cell Slots and Attribute Distribution

Every character equips six cells. Cell Creation lets you choose specific set types and slot positions, eliminating the broad loot pools found in standard stage drops.

Equipment slots follow strict attribute rules:

  • Slot 1 (Fixed): Flat ATK
  • Slot 2 (Fixed): Flat DEF
  • Slot 3 (Fixed): Flat HP
  • Slots 4, 5, and 6 (Variable): Random main attributes, including Crit Rate, Crit DMG, ATK Percentage, DMG Reduction, and Effect Hit

Crafting Slots 1 through 3 carries no main-stat randomness. Use these slots to guarantee the set bonus your character needs without wasting reagents on bad primary stat rolls. Reserve Slots 4, 5, and 6 for later crafts when searching for role-specific primary stats, such as ATK% or Crit attributes for offensive carries and DMG Reduction or HP% for defensive tanks.

Crafting Resources

The Cell Creation workshop requires three core materials:

ResourcePrimary Acquisition MethodCrafting Function
Creation Reagents (Tubes)Material Trials, Daily Quests, Event ShopsBasic fuel required for every crafting attempt
Catalyst ShardsNightmare Boss Clears, Dismantling Surplus CellsHigh-grade materials needed to forge higher equipment rarities
GoldDaily Gold Vault, Story StagesCurrency consumed on each craft

Save high-grade crafting catalysts until the facility unlocks SSR and LR production tiers. Spending reagents on low-tier R or SR crafts expends materials that yield better returns at higher facility brackets.

Follow this four-step process to build equipment sets efficiently:

  1. Check Set Requirements: Review your formation to see which characters are one or two pieces away from completing an active set bonus.
  2. Craft Fixed Slots: Forge missing pieces in Slots 1, 2, or 3 within the targeted set to activate the set passive.
  3. Spend Leftover Reagents on Variable Slots: Once the set bonus is active, craft Slots 4, 5, or 6 to search for optimal primary stats.
  4. Filter and Dismantle Rejects: Inspect secondary substats on new pieces. If an offensive set piece rolls unhelpful flat defensive stats, salvage it immediately.

Dismantling unwanted SSR cells returns a portion of your crafting reagents and catalyst shards. Funneling dismantled materials back into the workshop maintains your crafting loop without draining extra stamina from normal campaign stages.
