To clear Enemy Assault Stage D Part 1 in Tokyo Ghoul · Break the Chains, build a balanced four-character squad with defensive support, manually merge skill cards to generate ultimate energy, and eliminate high-threat minions before focusing the stage boss. Bringing an all-offensive lineup will cause your frontline to collapse against incoming turn-one burst damage.

Team Composition and Role Distribution

Enemy Assault Stage D enforces strict survival checks. Running four damage carries is not viable because the enemy frontline exerts continuous burst pressure. Structure your four-slot lineup around distinct functions:

SlotRolePrimary Objective
Slot 1Single-Target Burst DPSEliminates prioritized adds and cuts down the boss health bar.
Slot 2Secondary Carry / DebufferSoftens enemy lines, strips enemy buffs, and applies stat debuffs.
Slot 3Utility / Defensive BufferGenerates energy, grants shields, and reduces incoming damage.
Slot 4Sustain Support / HealerRecovers lost health and cleanses status ailments like bleeds.

When selecting your primary single-target carry, pick a unit with type advantage or neutral scaling against the Part 1 boss. Glass-cannon carries require protective allies to absorb or mitigate lethal hits during the opening rounds.

Skill Card Merging and Energy Management

Auto-battle logic wastes actions by spending low-tier skills randomly. Manually handling your hand is critical for survival and damage output.

  • Fuse defensive skills early: Combining shield and healing cards into Level 2 or Level 3 variants increases recovery numbers and unlocks cleanses or defense buffs.
  • Accelerate ultimate charge: Every manual card shift and merge generates bonus energy, allowing carries and buffers to ready their ultimates turns earlier.
  • Filter low-value attacks: Discard or cycle unneeded single attacks to draw necessary defensive utility and high-tier finisher cards.
  • Hold burst skills during enemy defense phases: Do not activate high-cost single-target ultimates when an enemy has damage reduction or active barriers. Strip defensive buffs first, apply your team's attack boosts, and then deploy your damage burst.

Target Priority and Combat Flow

Targeting the main boss immediately is a common cause of defeat. Minions cast disruptive crowd control, attack debuffs, and bleeds that overwhelm your team over time.

  1. Rounds 1–2: Identify secondary enemies that carry stuns or defense reductions. Direct your burst damage to eliminate these side units immediately, significantly reducing incoming damage on your frontline.
  2. Round 3: Shift target focus to the primary boss. Track the boss's special meter, and cast shields or damage-reduction buffs on the exact turn the boss reaches full meter.
  3. Round 4 and beyond: Maintain steady healing output, hold at least one recovery card in reserve for future boss specials, and execute the boss before its damage ramps out of control.
