To clear Breakout stages 17 through 32 on Hard difficulty in Top Lords, steer your squad to preserve troop volume, focus all fire on single obstacle blocks, and choose safe positive gates over risky multipliers surrounded by hazards.

Gate Selection and Unit Thresholds

On Hard difficulty, obstacles possess higher health pools, and mistakes rapidly wipe out entire squads. Evaluate gate choices using your current squad size:

  • Single-digit unit count: Take flat addition gates (such as +5 or +10). They provide a guaranteed baseline that prevents immediate wipes against early barricades.
  • Double-digit unit count (10+ troops): Prioritize multiplier gates (x2, x3). Once your squad reaches double digits, multiplication outpaces flat additions and gives your formation the firepower needed to melt down thicker walls.
  • Under 15 units before shielded gates: Take an unobstructed route or a lower-value gate rather than ramming heavy shields or turrets. Crashing into heavy defenses with fewer than 15 units destroys the squad before you can collect the reward behind them.

Look two track segments ahead to identify incoming color codes early. Swerving late into a red subtraction gate or spikes will end the run prematurely.

Stage-by-Stage Strategy (Levels 17–32)

Stages 17–20: Safe Lane Discipline

Stages 17 through 20 introduce narrower tracks and faster obstacle cycles.

  • Center Alignment: In Stages 18 and 20, keep your squad in the center of the track until upcoming gate values are clearly visible. Drifting to the edges early leaves your squad vulnerable if obstacles spawn along the walls.
  • Center Barricade Clears: Target standard wooden barricades down the middle lane. Funneling through the center prevents your formation from spreading out and clipping flanking hazards.
  • Risk Management: Always choose the unobstructed lane over high-risk lanes with narrow margins. Surviving with an intact squad is essential for clearing the end-zone defense.

Stages 21–24: Clearing Fortified Chokepoints

Stages 21 through 24 feature track-wide blockades and oscillating environmental hazards.

Stage BracketPrimary Hazard FocusRecommended Tactical Response
Stages 21–22Reinforced stone barriersFocus all troops on a single outer block to punch one narrow exit.
Stages 23–24Moving pendulums and spikesHold center alignment and sprint forward immediately after the hazard passes.

In Stage 23, an advantageous blue multiplier gate sits directly behind a thick barrier. Focus your squad on that specific barrier segment early. If you break it too late, your squad's momentum will push them past the positive gate or deflect them into an adjacent red hazard.

Stages 25–28: Managing Dynamic Traps

These stages feature higher track speeds and moving hazards that test reaction time.

  • Stage 26 and Stage 27: Sliding gates and dynamic traps require steady steering. Avoid rapid back-and-forth dodging, which causes trailing units to clip lane dividers. Commit to a lane early and absorb minor chip damage rather than dragging your flank across a divider.
  • Post-Trap Recovery: Head directly toward the next positive gate after clearing a trap segment to rebuild troop count before the finish line.

Stages 29–32: Boss Thresholds and Final Gauntlets

The final stretch features dense barricades, subtraction gates, and boss checkpoints.

  • Unit Reserve Stockpiling: Stages 31 and 32 place red subtraction barriers directly in front of the final extraction zones. You must accumulate a large unit reserve throughout the earlier portions of the run to survive these mandatory point deductions.
  • Stage 32 Boss Barrier: Keep your formation tightly grouped when approaching the final barricades in Stage 32. Do not let your units spread wide across the track. Direct your entire army into the weakest structural section of the gate to pierce through and trigger the stage completion.

Trailing Unit Clearance

Your squad widens as its numbers grow. Even when your lead units clear a moving blade or pendulum, trailing units on the outer edges remain vulnerable to damage. Take wider turns around corner hazards and moving traps to ensure the entire formation passes through without losing numbers to trailing hitbox collisions.
