Fairies

Fairies are the traditional rulers of Elias, centered around the divine World Tree. Despite holding royal status, Fairies behave like undisciplined children. They show little interest in governance, routinely ignoring official duties in favor of taking naps, playing games, and consuming pastries.

Their society is led by Queen Erpin, a monarch notorious for avoiding paperwork and delegating state responsibilities. Fairies possess high natural magical vitality, but their lack of planning regularly causes chaos that other factions are forced to resolve.

Elves

Elves function in direct contrast to the whimsical Fairies. Having abandoned traditional woodland settlements, the Elves established a modern, hyper-capitalist society driven by heavy bureaucracy, skyscrapers, computer systems, and corporate hierarchies.

Chief administrator Elena oversees the Elven state, managing both the economy and the fallout caused by Fairy antics. Because Elven society runs on relentless corporate deadlines and overtime, their characters are defined by workplace exhaustion, professional uniforms, and reliance on firearms and modern technology over raw mysticism.

Beastkin

Beastkin—also called Animals—are mammalian humanoids driven by instinct, physical agility, and pack bonds. They reject the legal complexities of the Elves and the political status of the Fairies, organizing instead around simple communal loyalties.

Disputes among Beastkin are settled with play-fighting or feats of strength rather than formal debate. Their characters value companionship and food above all else, leaning heavily into martial brawling and frontline athleticism.

Spirits and Witches

Spirits and Witches represent the unaligned magical powers of Elias, though they approach magic from opposite directions:

  • Spirits: Spirits are physical manifestations of natural elements such as water, wind, and flame. Because they do not have biological needs or civic obligations, they act on fleeting impulses and remain detached from mortal conflicts.
  • Witches: Witches are mortal spellcasters who isolate themselves in forests, dark spires, and swamplands. Rather than pursuing malice, they focus on alchemical brewing, rogue experiments, and petty mischief free from civic regulations.

Ghosts and Dragons

The remaining corners of Elias belong to supernatural specters and ancient mythical beasts:

  • Ghosts: Undead inhabitants of haunted ruins and crypts, Ghosts spend their time scaring travelers and complaining about the physical drawbacks of unlife, particularly their inability to eat mortal food.
  • Dragons: Dragons are the oldest and most destructive faction in Elias. However, their immense pride and laziness keep them asleep in their treasure vaults for decades at a time, leaving the realm alone unless someone steals their hoard or forces them into battle.
