To maintain steady progression and safeguard your army in War and Order, keep resource items stored in your inventory until an upgrade begins, assign only low-tier units to resource tiles, direct your gems toward permanent account milestones, scout every hostile target before attacking, and prioritize high-tier unit thresholds over mass-producing mid-tier armies.
Opening Resource Bags Prematurely
Resource boxes, event chests, and quest rewards kept in your bag inventory are completely protected from enemy attacks and cannot be consumed by your army's food upkeep. Opening these containers immediately upon earning them floods your castle with loose food, wood, stone, and iron.
When your loose stockpile exceeds the Depot warehouse protection limit, two things happen:
- Stationed troops continuously burn through all unshielded food until the counter hits zero.
- Scouted castles with massive unshielded resources become prime targets for enemy raids.
| Resource State | Raid Vulnerability | Troop Upkeep Impact |
|---|---|---|
| In Bag Inventory | 100% immune to enemy plundering | Zero food consumption |
| Loose in Castle | Plunderable above Depot capacity | Continuously drained by army upkeep |
Leave resource packs unopened in your inventory. Crack them open only when you have all prerequisite buildings completed and are ready to start a construction timer or technology research immediately.
Sending High-Tier Troops to Resource Tiles
Deploying elite combat units to gather resources on the world map exposes your primary army to cheap ambushes. World map tiles lack the defensive fortifications of city walls. During Kill Events and Void Wars, rival players hunt occupied tiles to score easy kills.
If an attacker strikes your gathering march on an open tile:
- Combat occurs without your city wall defense bonuses.
- Wounded soldiers quickly exceed your Hospital capacity, causing permanent troop deaths.
- Rebuilding elite units requires extensive resources and long recruitment timers.
Use expendable Tier 1 units for gathering runs instead. Tier 1 Cavalry provide fast march times across the map, while Tier 1 Siege engines carry high resource loads per unit. If a gathering march is wiped out on a tile, low-tier units cost minimal resources to heal, and your core combat units remain safe behind city shields or inside alliance shelters.
Spending Gems on Direct Timers and Basic Materials
Using gems to finish active building timers or buy raw resources from the standard store gives the worst return on investment in War and Order. Rushing construction queues provides momentary convenience, but it depletes the primary currency required for long-term account development.
Allocate your gems to permanent upgrades and high-value discounts:
- VIP Points: Raising your VIP level unlocks permanent march speed, gathering rate increases, resource production buffs, and free instant-completion construction time.
- Hall of War: Purchasing War Badges with gems upgrades the Hall of War, expanding the rally capacity needed to organize alliance attacks on elite monsters and enemy castles.
- Merchant Discounts: Spend gems only when the Wandering Merchant or Black Market offers recruit speedups or shields at 60% to 70% discounts.
Attacking Castles Without Scouting
Launching an attack march into an un-scouted castle risks throwing your army into an alliance trap. Defending players often position a low-power "bait" castle on the front line, activate an Anti-Scout item, and pack the city with high-tier reinforcements from their allies.
An offensive march hitting an un-scouted, reinforced defense will suffer massive casualties and hospital overflow. Always send a scout march before committing troops. If a target runs Anti-Scout, check their alliance affiliation and the positions of nearby friendly castles. If the danger remains unclear, send a sacrificial single-unit march to reveal defensive activity before committing your main army.
Over-Training Mid-Tier Troops
Mass-producing intermediate combat units—such as Tier 4 and Tier 5 troops—slows long-term account progression. Mid-tier troops drain substantial amounts of food upkeep, yet they sustain heavy casualties against higher-tier armies and quickly lose utility once elite units are unlocked.
Direct your building speedups, research, and resource stocks toward reaching major tier milestones, such as Tier 7 or Tier 8 units, by upgrading your Castle and Barracks. Train only enough mid-tier units to manage daily monster hunting and event targets. When you unlock higher-tier units, convert low-tier recruitment queues into defensive front-line meat shields or utility gatherers rather than continuing to invest in obsolete mid-tier attackers.
