To win matches and steadily progress in War Inc: Rising, build your five-card deck around a single damage carry supported by four utility cards, fill all board tiles before merging any units, and spend surplus gold on upgrading low-tier collection cards to raise your permanent critical damage.
Five-Card Deck Structure
Running multiple damage dealers splits your combat upgrade mana and crowds your board. Instead, build your deck around one primary carry and four supporting roles that amplify that carry's damage output:
- Primary Carry (Main DPS): Deals the bulk of your damage against waves and bosses. This is the only card you should heavily invest in during early-to-mid match upgrade phases.
- Mana Engine: Generates extra mana on spawn, wave completion, or kills, providing the resources needed to recover your board after boss encounters.
- Crowd Controller: Stuns or slows waves, bunching enemies together so your primary carry can eliminate them before they cross the line.
- Buffer or Armor Shredder: Increases your carry's attack speed or reduces boss defense ratings.
- Merge Utility or Wildcard: Duplicates unit ranks or merges across different card types to unstick clogged boards.
A single carry supported by damage buffs and armor shredding produces higher effective damage than two or three unbuffed carries competing for grid space and upgrade mana.
Board Deployment and Merging Rules
Do not merge units during the first few waves. Merging two rank-1 units into a single rank-2 unit reduces your total projectile volume, resulting in an immediate drop in overall lane damage. Additionally, merging two copies of your carry randomly rolls into any card in your deck unless you use a dedicated wildcard unit, which can leave you without an offensive unit on the board.
Follow this deployment sequence during matches:
- Spend starting mana to summon units until every tile on your board is filled.
- Check your board for copies of your primary carry, then buy the first two bottom-bar combat upgrades for that carry.
- Merge duplicate support or mana units only when the board is completely full and you need open tiles for new summons.
- Keep your primary carry units unmerged until you have banked enough mana to summon replacements if a merge rolls into a support unit.
Mana Allocation: Summons vs. Combat Upgrades
In-match summon costs increase with every unit spawned, while bottom-bar combat upgrades have flat tier costs that boost every active copy of that card on the field.
| Spending Option | Timing | Benefit |
|---|---|---|
| Summoning | Waves 1–3; empty board tiles | Maximizes total attack speed and establishes support coverage across all lanes. |
| Carry Upgrades | Board full; summon cost exceeds early upgrade costs | Grants guaranteed, scaling damage to all carry units without risking bad merge rolls. |
| Utility Upgrades | Late-wave boss preparation | Increases slow duration, armor reduction, or wave mana generation. |
When the mana cost of a single new summon exceeds the cost of your carry's first two bottom-bar upgrade tiers, switch your spending to the upgrade bar. Do not spend mana on support unit bar upgrades during early waves.
Permanent Account Upgrades and Resource Priority
Outside of combat, your overall progression depends on your global Critical Damage multiplier and disciplined resource spending.
Leveling Cards for Critical Damage
Your account's Critical Damage stat applies to all matches, regardless of which five units you place in your active deck. Every card upgrade—including unused common and rare cards—permanently raises this global percentage.
Instead of hoarding gold exclusively for high-tier deck cards, spend excess gold on the cheapest bench upgrades available. Leveling multiple common cards from level 1 to level 5 requires minimal gold and provides substantial increases to your account-wide crit rating.
Daily Shop and Gem Management
Check the daily shop every 24 hours when the inventory resets. Buy all common and rare card duplicates offered for basic gold to maintain a steady stream of card levels for your Critical Damage stat.
Hold your premium gems rather than spending them on single random card pulls. Save gems for guaranteed legendary milestone chests during banner events or use them to purchase dungeon entry refreshes when payout multipliers are active.

This guide answered the exact question I had.
I tried this today and it worked better than my old setup.
Can you add more details about base building in a future update?
Good guide for War Inc: Rising players. The base building part was useful.
