To clear the 1.5 update dungeon encounters in Where Winds Meet, your team must track red-zone area-of-effect (AoE) indicators, hold crowd-control skills for boss charge states, and keep at least 30 percent of your stamina bar available for dodging and parrying.
Boss Mechanics Overview
Tian Ying and Guo Xin feature distinct attack patterns that demand different positioning and recovery habits from your squad.
| Boss | Primary Threat | Visual Telegraph | Tactical Response |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tian Ying | Rapid slashes into ground slam, wide displacement attacks | Boss glows; red-zone indicators appear | Maintain mid-range during wind-ups; parry/dash at animation peak; stop long skill combos |
| Guo Xin | Projectile zoning, stationary circular hazard pools | Hand animation cues; spawned ground circles | Drag boss away from active pools; stay mobile to avoid movement speed debuff stacks |
How to Counter Tian Ying
Tian Ying relies on aggressive movement and wide melee strikes. Maintaining mid-range distance during his initial wind-up gives your team enough time to react without dropping damage uptime.
- Watch the glow signal: When Tian Ying begins to glow, hold off on using long-animation martial arts skills. Committing to a long skill during this signal risks an immediate animation interrupt from his displacement moves.
- Time the parry or dash: During his high-intensity phase, Tian Ying executes rapid slashes followed by a ground slam. Execute a dodge or a timed parry right as his slam animation reaches its peak.
- Gear for parry leeway: If you miss timing windows on perfect parries, adjust gear stats toward stamina recovery so you can safely dash away instead.
How to Counter Guo Xin
Guo Xin uses ranged zoning to limit clean arena space and inflict stacking debuffs.
- Track hand animations: Watch Guo Xin's hand movements to anticipate incoming projectiles and move early.
- Relocate away from hazard zones: Guo Xin spawns stationary circular hazards that deal chip damage and apply stacking movement speed reductions. Have your aggro holder pull the boss into open space so melee DPS can work without standing in active zones.
- Maintain team mobility: Constant movement prevents the slow debuff from making follow-up strikes un-dodgeable.
Squad Coordination and Resource Priorities
- Maintain a spread formation: Do not stack your team together. Spreading out prevents single cleave strikes from hitting multiple allies.
- Call out aggro: The targeted player should communicate their direction so back-attack damage dealers can safely stay behind the boss.
- Assign an interrupt player: Dedicated one player to use high-potency crowd-control skills when the boss enters a charging state. Successfully interrupting this state grants a 3-to-5-second window of open damage.
- Align ultimate abilities with stuns: Save ultimate abilities exclusively for the 3-to-5-second interrupt window. Using ultimates during high-mobility evasion phases risks missing the damage payload entirely.
- Maintain a stamina reserve: Never spend below 30 percent stamina solely for offensive output. Hold stamina to react to sudden follow-up strikes.
- Reset on early losses: Raid scaling assumes a complete team. If a player dies early in the attempt, reset the fight to avoid prolonged, inefficient wipes.

I tried this today and it worked better than my old setup.
This helped me understand strategy much better.
Nice guide. I am checking the other Where Winds Meet articles next.
Can you add more details about strategy in a future update?
