To survive high-density zombie waves and boss encounters in Zombastic: Time to Survive, keep moving along continuous wide-perimeter loops to condense swarms behind you, and evade boss telegraphs at right angles rather than backing away in a straight line.

Core Swarm Movement: The Wide-Orbit Kiting Loop

Moving in large, circular perimeters prevents enemies from surrounding you while keeping escape lanes open. Running in straight lines quickly leads to dead ends against arena boundaries, resulting in your character being pinned.

Maintain the kiting loop using these rules:

  • Clear the forward path: Direct attacks along the mid-range perimeter ahead of you to eliminate stray walkers before entering their space.
  • Circle in one direction: Stick to either clockwise or counter-clockwise movement to compress trailing zombies into a single dense pack behind you.
  • Never cut across the center: Doubling back across your own path forces you into trailing stragglers and dense collision boxes.
  • Smooth out turns: Sharp 90-degree pivots bleed your movement speed, allowing faster infected units to close the distance and land melee hits.

Breaking High-Density Wave Spikes

As wave timers advance, enemy density scales rapidly with armored walkers, leaping mutants, and ranged attackers. When the horde begins to close off the arena, target your damage strategically rather than shooting into the thickest cluster:

  1. Target the narrowest mob wall: Aim auto-targeting weapons and primary attacks at the thinnest section of the encroaching ring to carve out a clean exit lane.
  2. Commit crowd-control cooldowns: Activate area-of-effect abilities or knockback skills right as you reach the opening to stagger remaining front-line walkers.
  3. Avoid colliding with armored units: Never attempt to sprint through full-health armored zombies without an active defensive ability or stagger ready, as character collision will halt your momentum and trap you.

Boss Fight Positioning and Telegraph Evasion

Elite enemies and stage bosses combine heavy melee slams, forward charges, and projectiles with regular zombie spawns. Managing these encounters requires maintaining separation between the boss and minor enemies.

Perpendicular Dodging

When a boss initiates a charge or launches high-speed straight-line projectiles along a red indicator line, do not backpedal along that line. Dodge perpendicularly at a 90-degree angle relative to the boss's facing direction. This clears the attack hitbox using the shortest possible travel distance.

Ground Impact Zones

Heavy ground slams leave lingering radial damage zones. Wait roughly half a second after the impact visual disappears before closing back into mid-range distance to avoid taking lingering damage ticks to your shields or health pool.

Safe Resource Pickup Rotation

XP gems, health drops, and power-ups remain on the ground after enemies die, but running backward into a mob to retrieve them will cause unnecessary damage. Pickups do not expire immediately, so collect them through your active loop:

  1. Spot the drop: Note the location of the resource cluster without turning toward it.
  2. Complete the loop: Continue moving forward along your wide orbit, pulling the trailing horde away from the drop location.
  3. Retrieve on the next rotation: Run over the cleared area on your next lap to collect the supplies without stopping or reversing direction.
