To defeat every campaign boss in Zombie Night Terror, treat each arena as a routing puzzle rather than an all-out assault. Success relies on stationing Overlords to hold back reserves, sacrificing lone walkers to bait out heavy attacks, and spending DNA on high-impact mutations like Bombers and Tanks only when a boss exposes a vulnerability window.

Boss 1: Enclosed Arena and Melee Cleave

The first boss relies on a wide-arcing melee swing that instantly eliminates grouped walkers. Marching your entire swarm forward at once will exhaust your DNA reserves before you can deplete the boss's health.

  1. Establish a staging line: Place an Overlord just outside the boss's strike reach to prevent the rest of your horde from walking into danger.
  2. Bait the melee swing: Release a single walker forward to trigger the boss's windup and heavy swing.
  3. Exploit the recovery window: While the boss recovers from the attack animation, send in a fast runner or detonate a Bomber directly against them.
  4. Flank from alternate paths: If the arena provides upper ledges or drop points, route secondary units behind the boss to split their attention and prevent them from sweeping your reinforcements.

Never spend DNA on mutations while the boss is actively executing an attack swing. Only mutate during recovery frames to avoid losing valuable units before they deal damage.

Boss 2: Heavy Firepower and Fortified Barricades

The second boss sets up behind fortified cover and uses rapid gunfire to shred approaching units in open lanes. Rushing down the central corridor will wipe out standard walkers.

Use the environment's elevation and specialized movement mutations to bypass bullet spreads:

Sustained Burst PhaseBroad sweeps that wipe hordesTankAbsorb incoming fire and knock the boss out of their fortified firing stance.

Once the barricade falls, deploy a Tank to take bullet aggro, then flood the position with regular walkers to swarm the target.

Boss 3: Vertical Shafts and Platform Hazards

The third encounter features dynamic elevator shafts and wide sweeping attacks that cover entire platform widths. The boss moves frequently between floor levels, leaving traps along the way.

Divide your horde into two distinct groups to handle the shifting terrain:

  • The Ground Anchor: Station an Overlord on the lowest stable level alongside your reserve walkers. This guarantees you do not suffer a full wipe from a sudden platform hazard or sweep attack.
  • The Strike Squad: Send Crawlers and fast runners up side walls and ladders to chase the boss between floors.

Do not move groups across open lift platforms while the boss charges an attack. Instead, send one bait unit across to trigger the strike. Once the attack finishes, drop a Bomber from an upper platform or leap in with a Crawler to stagger the boss, preventing them from arming further traps.

Boss 4: Heavy Directional Shield and Support Units

The fourth boss deploys a frontal shield that negates all direct melee strikes and bullet fire, backed by armed escorts stationed on elevated platforms.

Clear the battlefield before focusing on the boss:

  1. Eliminate the escort units: Use Spitters or targeted Bomber explosions to clear the side gunners. Direct frontal assaults while escort units are shooting will quickly destroy your frontline.
  2. Lock the shield in place: Place an Overlord on one side of the platform and send a Tank into the boss's front. The boss will lock their shield in that direction to deflect the Tank.
  3. Flank the exposed rear: Set up a second Overlord behind the boss and release runners into their unprotected back.
  4. Crack the armor: When the boss turns to address the rear attack, detonate a Bomber against their exposed flank to shatter their armor plate, leaving them vulnerable to standard bites.

The Final Boss: Multiphase Routing and Resource Management

The final campaign boss spans an expanding multi-tier arena. Conserving your infection pool and timing mutations across all three phases is essential to avoid running out of DNA.

Phase 1: Outer Approaches

Focus on conservation. Do not spend DNA on expensive mutations during this stage. Clear the automated side turrets, send solo walkers forward to trigger wide laser sweeps, and detonate a single Bomber to breach the security blast door leading into the main chamber.

Phase 2: Core Platform Duel

The boss takes a position on the central reactor platform, firing tracking artillery and emitting radial knockback waves.

  • Station an Overlord behind an indestructible barrier to shelter your reserve horde.
  • Lead each attack wave with a Tank to soak up the incoming artillery barrages.
  • Direct Crawlers along the ceiling to bypass floor hazards entirely.
  • When the boss briefly vents heat and drops their protective barrier, detonate a Bomber at their base to deal direct damage.

Phase 3: Enrage and Final Assault

The boss enters an enrage state as the arena platforms begin collapsing and continuous area-of-effect damage fills the room.

Stop conserving DNA at this stage. Mutate all remaining reserves into fast runners and Bombers. Flood the central platform simultaneously from both directions to interrupt the boss's attack windups with repeated stagger effects, finishing off their remaining health before the floor completely breaks away.
