To survive enemy waves in Absolum co-op play, keep your team clustered on the same side of the screen, assign distinct target priorities between ranged and melee threats, and stagger your major ability cooldowns so your team always maintains crowd control.
Team Positioning and Formations
Allowing enemies to surround your team from opposite directions is the primary cause of failed co-op runs. Treat the arena floor as a single linear lane to ensure incoming mobs gather predictably in front of both players.
- Maintain a single front: Stay on the same side of the screen as your partner. Clustered players force enemies to bunch up, leaving them exposed to wide area-of-effect attacks.
- Reset formation together: If enemies begin to break your line, dash away alongside your teammate to regroup rather than trying to attack through a flank.
- Use choke points: Guide groups into narrow map corridors or along outer walls to restrict how many enemy units can reach you simultaneously. Avoid standing in the open center of an arena without a clear escape path.
Synchronize Ability Chains and Cooldowns
Blowing major abilities at the same time leaves your team without defensive answers when new enemy surges spawn. Alternate your skills so at least one partner has an active crowd-control tool available.
- Initiate control: One player opens with a low-cooldown knockback or stun skill to gather scattered mobs into a tight pack.
- Execute follow-up damage: The second player immediately unleashes high-damage, wide-arc strikes onto the grouped targets to exploit the opening.
- Hold defensive options: Keep at least one defensive escape or knockback skill off cooldown to peel for a focused partner or break free if enemies recover unexpectedly.
Target Selection During Swarms
Split your team's focus based on unit types during dense encounters to maintain control of the field.
| Target Type | Primary Responsibility | Tactics |
|---|---|---|
| Ranged & Glass Cannon Mobs | High-Priority Attacker | Focus down immediately to stop background chip damage while melee units advance. |
| Melee Trash Mobs | Crowd Controller | Use knockbacks and stuns to hold back the swarm while your partner clears priority targets. |

I wish I had read this before upgrading the wrong thing.
The tips are practical and easy to follow.
