To eliminate attack animation lockouts in Absolum, trigger a dash or special ability the exact moment your weapon strike registers damage. Overriding recovery frames keeps your character mobile, preventing enemies from punishing heavy attack animations while preserving stamina for defensive dodges.
Canceling Recovery Lockouts and Ability Flow
Every standard attack chain has a recovery lockout period that prevents immediate dodging or secondary actions. You can bypass this lockout by monitoring hit registration:
- Watch for Damage Registration: Execute your attack chain and identify the frame where damage numbers appear or contact connects.
- Input Dash or Ability Instantly: Input a directional dash or a special ability immediately after impact to skip the weapon's return-to-idle animation.
- Chain Abilities Out of Movement: Trigger high-impact abilities immediately after a dash-cancel to maintain offensive pressure without standing still.
- Probe During Cooldowns: When special abilities are on cooldown, fall back to single strikes or short attack strings to remain mobile while waiting for timers to reset.
Reserve high-impact abilities to interrupt telegraphed boss charging phases or to strike overlapping groups of enemies rather than using them immediately on solitary targets.
Managing Stamina and Evasion Reserves
Over-committing to offensive strings exhausts stamina, leaving your character unable to evade incoming projectiles or area-of-effect strikes.
- Limit Attack Chains: Cap your basic attack strings to a maximum of three hits before pausing to evaluate enemy indicators.
- Save Stamina for Evasion: Use normal movement or zero-cost mobility skills to close distance on distant foes instead of spending dodge stamina.
- Keep an Emergency Reserve: Always retain enough stamina for at least one double-dash or quick teleport to clear unexpected attack hitboxes.
Positioning Against Telegraphed Attacks
Controlling spatial positioning reduces the need for panic-dodging:
- Bait Wind-Up Animations: Stand near the outer edge of an enemy's melee range to trigger their attack telegraph, indicated by posture changes or visual color shifts, then dash through or around their hitboxes to punish.
- Funnel Enemy Groups: Keep target groups in front of your character. If enemies scatter or surround you, dash outward to the room's perimeter to force them back into a single forward line of sight.

The explanation is clear, especially for beginners.
Good guide for Absolum players. The strategy part was useful.
I tried this today and it worked better than my old setup.
This saved me time in the early game.
