To maximize combat rating and push progression in AFK Arena, spend Tier 1 (T1) and Tier 2 (T2) enhancement stones on faction-matched boots and weapons for your primary carry before upgrading any defensive slots. Helmets and chest pieces provide defensive padding that should wait until your damage dealers reliably secure stage clears.

Only Upgrade Faction-Matched Mythic Gear

Never use T1 or T2 stones on factionless Mythic equipment. Equipping a hero with gear matching their faction grants a 30% bonus to that item's base stats.

Tier stones permanently raise an item's tier and amplify those base values. Because factionless gear lacks the 30% bonus multiplier, a faction-matched T1 item routinely outperforms a factionless T2 item. If your core heroes are wearing factionless Mythic pieces, leave those items at five-star enhancement and save your stones until matching faction drops arrive from AFK rewards, the Guild Store, or campaign progression.

Gear Slot Priority by Hero Archetype

Different hero classes scale through distinct stats. Upgrade gear slots according to how each archetype generates value in combat:

Hero TypeRecommended Slot OrderKey Stats GainedPrimary Purpose
AgilityBoots > Weapon > Chest > HelmetMovement Speed, Dodge, Attack, CritMaximizes evasion and burst physical damage
IntelligenceBoots > Weapon > Helmet / ChestMovement Speed, Attack, Magic Pierce, CritAccelerates opening rotations and ultimate burst
Strength (Tank)Boots > Chest > Helmet > WeaponMovement Speed, Physical/Magic Resist, HPEnsures frontline positioning and early survival
Strength (Carry)Boots > Weapon > Chest > HelmetMovement Speed, Attack, Physical Resist, HPBalances damage output with frontline durability

Agility Heroes

Agility carries (such as Eironn, Ferael, and Lyca) rely on speed and evasion rather than raw damage mitigation.

  1. Boots: Grant high amounts of Dodge and Movement Speed (MSP). Dodge allows carries to avoid fatal attacks entirely, while MSP helps them position and trigger crowd control before enemies close in.
  2. Weapon: Provides critical rating, Accuracy, and raw Attack to finish targets quickly.
  3. Chest Armor and Helmet: Add HP, Defense, and minor Dodge or Accuracy. Upgrade these only after offensive slots are secured.

Intelligence Heroes

Intelligence mages and supports (such as Shemira, Belinda, Rowan, and Rosaline) rely on rapid ability cycles and heavy spell damage from the backline.

  1. Boots: Provide Movement Speed to let spellcasters take formation quickly and start basic attack or skill rotations.
  2. Weapon: Delivers high Attack, Magic Penetration, and Crit to boost ultimate damage and damage-linked healing.
  3. Helmet and Chest Armor: Offer Physical Resist, Magic Resist, and HP. These help backline units survive stray assassin dives but do not help beat stage timers, so leave them at base Mythic initially.

Strength Heroes

Strength heroes include frontline tanks (such as Lucius, Arthur, and Brutus) and select bruiser carries (such as Izold and Daimon).

  1. Boots: Essential for all Strength users to gain Physical Resist and Movement Speed, allowing them to intercept enemy frontline charges.
  2. Chest Armor: Best for defensive tanks due to heavy HP, Physical Resist, and Magic Resist pools. If using a Strength-based carry, upgrade the weapon in this slot instead.
  3. Helmet: Provides secondary defensive bulk for frontline survival.
  4. Weapon: Pure tanks gain minimal utility from the Attack and Accuracy stats on Strength weapons, making this their lowest priority slot.

Roster Allocation Order

Distributing tier stones evenly across all five team slots slows down campaign progress. Prioritize full team upgrades in this order:

  1. Main Carry: Invest your first T1 and T2 stones into the boots and weapon of your primary hyper-carry to clear stage deficits.
  2. Primary Frontline Tank: Upgrade the boots and chest armor of your main tank so they survive long enough to establish a frontline.
  3. Key Supports: Leave utility supports at base Mythic gear. Heroes like Rowan deliver value primarily through skills and Signature Items, meaning tier stones yield negligible returns; only upgrade their boots if they need speed to trigger early setups.
  4. Secondary Cleanup: Upgrade the remaining helmets and chest armor on your carries to defend against global enemy burst once offensive requirements are met.
