Age of Apes on PC is a free MMO strategy game set after the end of human civilization, when rival monkey Hordes have taken over the world and turned space travel into a banana-fueled arms race. Your role is to become an important leader within one of five legendary Hordes, develop an outpost, build an army, and help launch a Rocket before competing apes can claim victory. The setting combines post-apocalyptic ruins, eccentric monkey leaders, dangerous White Mutants, and a persistent struggle for resources. Rather than focusing on a single battle or short campaign, the game asks you to manage a growing position in a shared online world, where your decisions support the wider fortunes of your Horde and Alliance.

The central loop revolves around strengthening your outpost, training powerful monkeys, gathering or stealing resources, and using those resources to advance the Rocket race. You can build or hijack convoys, protect shipments traveling through the world, and fight other Hordes in large-scale PVP wars. That creates a strategic tension between securing your own supply lines and disrupting an opponent’s progress. When you are not competing against other players, you can travel across the map, investigate ancient Ruins, confront huge Bosses, and fight PVE battles against the White Mutants. Characters such as Roger the Intendant and Junior the Horde Leader add recognizable figures to the world while you work toward becoming the most powerful monkey in your Horde. On PC, a larger display is useful when surveying the map, tracing convoy routes, locating Ruins, and reading the surrounding activity before committing to a fight or theft. Keyboard-and-mouse controls also suit repeated management tasks: moving between outpost development, army training, resource convoys, and alliance coordination is easier when you can select targets and inspect information precisely. The social layer is part of the strategy rather than a separate extra. Alliance members can plan together through the game’s communication tools, share screenshots decorated with stickers and drawings, and follow other primates while building a reputation. An in-game TV news channel reports live game events, including your own actions, giving the ongoing conflict a visible record. Because Age of Apes requires an internet connection, its Horde wars, alliance cooperation, shared map activity, and real-time coverage all depend on participation in the connected game world.
