The Empire Merger process in Age of Empires Mobile consolidates server populations to maintain active player bases across kingdoms. To ensure your account data remains intact and your alliance transitions smoothly, you must navigate three distinct phases: Announcement, Data Migration, and Post-Merger Stabilization.

The Three Stages of the Empire Merger Process

1. Announcement and Preparation

When an Empire Merger is scheduled, an official in-game notice provides the target date and a countdown to server maintenance.

  • Complete active queues: Finish any long-term research projects or building upgrades before the scheduled maintenance window begins.
  • Verify account details: Check your account links and note your server schedule to prevent unexpected synchronization issues.

2. Automated Data Migration

During maintenance, game servers go offline while player data transfers to the unified server environment.

  • Do not log in: Avoid attempting to force a login during maintenance. Attempting to enter the server during data transfer can cause synchronization errors.
  • Automated asset preservation: Deployed marches and gathering units are automatically recalled or safely stored by the system. Hero levels, inventory items, and general progression carry over automatically.

3. Post-Merger Stabilization and Rewards

Once maintenance finishes, log into the new server immediately to verify your data and claim transition items.

  • Check mail and events: Open your in-game mailbox and the event dashboard to claim downtime compensation and post-merger rewards.
  • Verify account assets: Confirm that your hero roster, resource stockpiles, and roster items transferred correctly.

Alliance and Territory Management

While the merger system preserves your alliance structure, roster, and friend list, it does not guarantee your previous territory or control zones on the new map.

Upon logging in after the merge, take the following steps:

  1. Survey the map: Locate your alliance towers and evaluate whether neighboring control zones have shifted.
  2. Identify new neighbors: Check which alliances occupy nearby territories on the combined server.
  3. Re-establish diplomacy: Contact existing allies and reach out to newly adjacent alliance leaders to negotiate border agreements and resource rights.

Server Limitations and Map Competition

  • Fixed server assignments: Players cannot manually select their destination server. Target kingdoms are designated automatically to balance total population.
  • Phased-out server IDs: Original server designations are retired once the merger completes.
  • Increased resource competition: A higher population density leads to greater contest over high-level resource nodes and strategic map locations. Focus on fortifying your defensive capabilities and coordinating with your alliance early.
