To earn three-star clears in Act 1 of the Light Campaign in Age of Magic: Turn Based RPG, keep every member of your squad alive until the stage ends. Focus down fragile enemy damage dealers before attacking armored frontline tanks, hold high-damage abilities at the end of waves to let cooldowns reset, and invest your early gear and experience potions into your primary damage dealer and frontline tank. A three-star clear permanently unlocks instant auto-win farming on that node, letting you gather gear and shards quickly.
Manual Targeting and Turn Initiative
Act 1 encounters feature mixed waves of armored melee units and vulnerable ranged damage dealers. High-damage marksmen and enemy casters threaten your squad's survival if left unchecked.
- Check the initiative bars: The blue bars beneath hero and enemy health meters show the exact turn sequence. Identify which enemy threats are scheduled to act next.
- Manually select targets: Tap enemy marksmen, casters, or support units directly to focus your team's attacks. Leaving targeting on default can waste attacks on high-armor frontline brawlers while backline enemies chip away at your party.
- Clear tanks last: Heavily armored frontline units absorb heavy physical damage and take multiple rounds to defeat, but they deal low burst damage. Once you eliminate their damage-dealing allies, your squad can safely dismantle the remaining tanks without risking casualties.
Wave Pacing and Cooldown Discipline
Campaign stages in Act 1 require fighting through multiple consecutive waves. Burning your strongest special abilities to finish off a weak enemy at the end of wave one leaves your team without tools when a fresh, stronger enemy group appears in wave two.
| Battle Phase | Ability Strategy | Primary Tactical Objective |
|---|---|---|
| Wave Opening | Unleash premier burst skills and focus fire | Eliminate primary damage threats immediately |
| Wave Midpoint | Transition to basic attacks | Maintain pressure while skills recharge |
| Wave Conclusion | Finish stragglers with basic attacks only | Enter the next wave with all cooldowns ready |
When only one low-threat enemy remains in a wave, refrain from using special abilities. Use standard basic attacks to finish the target. This passes turns, resets ability cooldowns, and ensures your burst damage is ready to eliminate high-threat targets the moment the next wave begins.
Squad Roles and Gear Progression
Early Light Campaign nodes provide your foundational squad roles: Taneda provides high single-target physical burst damage, while your frontline guardian absorbs hits to protect fragile allies.
Because campaign energy limits your early resource income, avoid spreading upgrade materials evenly across your entire roster:
- Equip gear slots on core heroes first: Each hero has six equipment slots. Filling all six slots allows you to upgrade the hero's gear tier, granting large bonuses to base health, physical damage, and armor. Prioritize completing full gear sets for Taneda and your frontline guardian before upgrading secondary utility units.
- Focus leveling potions: Apply experience potions directly to Taneda to increase his kill speed, and to your guardian to keep incoming damage contained.
- Time defensive abilities: Activate your guardian's protective skills right before enemy initiative spikes so heavy hits land on your armored frontline rather than Taneda.
Securing Three Stars and Auto-Win Sweeping
A three-star rating requires 100% squad survival across the entire battle. If an ally dies due to focused fire or a critical hit, you will not receive three stars, locking you out of instant farming.
If a hero falls or a wave goes poorly, pause the match and use the retreat or restart option before the battle concludes. Adjust your target selection or equip unassigned gear in the hero menu, then re-enter the fight. Once you secure a three-star clear, use your daily energy pool to sweep the node with Memory Spheres to farm the equipment pieces needed for your next gear tier upgrades.
