To recruit wild companions in Aniimo, you must approach receptive creatures without provoking hostility, match their behavioral temperaments, and complete timed on-screen interaction prompts. Success depends on maintaining proper positioning, utilizing preferred inventory treats to boost affinity, and leveraging squad positioning to maximize your capture rates.

Identifying Receptive Wild Creatures

Not all wild creatures can be befriended immediately upon discovery. To determine if a target is open to recruitment, observe its state from a safe distance before moving in.

Observe Idle Animations: Watch for passive behaviors, such as investigating surroundings or resting. Creatures displaying hostile alert states or standard patrol routes will block recruitment attempts.
Approach Vectors: Move toward targets from the side or behind rather than walking directly into their front line of sight. Rushing head-on often startles wild targets into a defensive posture.
Clear Surrounding Mobs: Defeat or lure away any aggressive nearby enemies before starting an attempt. External combat interference will cause potential companions to flee or enter combat, ending the recruitment window.

Managing Creature Temperaments and Setup

Each species reacts differently to your presence. Adapting your movement style and squad preparation to a creature's specific temperament improves recruitment odds.

Executing Interaction Prompts

Once you are in position and the creature enters a receptive state, an interactive button prompt appears on your screen.

Press the Prompt: Interact as soon as the UI highlights the input button. Delaying the input can startle the target.
Follow Rhythmic Sequences: Certain species require a timed series of secondary button inputs or soft multi-stage interactions rather than a single button press.
Handle Negative Feedback: If a creature shakes its head or steps back, pause your inputs immediately. Retreat slightly, adjust your approach angle, and re-engage once the target relaxes instead of resorting to combat.
