In Aniimo, investing in Energy Recovery on the Potential Development grid does not accelerate passive idle energy regeneration. Instead, Energy Recovery acts as a multiplier on active hit registration. If you want faster skill uptime, you must actively keep that Aniimo on the field landing attacks rather than waiting for abilities to recharge from range or the bench.
How Energy Recovery Operates in Combat
Energy Recovery modifies the flat energy values awarded when an attack connects with a target. Resting in neutral stance, running away to dodge enemy mechanics, or waiting on cooldowns yields a fixed, baseline energy trickle that shows negligible improvement from Energy Recovery nodes.
| Combat State | Baseline Return | High Energy Recovery Investment | Practical Result |
|---|---|---|---|
| Idle / Neutral Stance | Fixed baseline tick | Negligible change over baseline | Disengaging does not restore burst skill uptime. |
| Basic Attack Combos | Flat energy per swing | Higher energy return per completed string | Accelerates skill availability during active combat loops. |
| Multi-Hit Skills | Flat energy per hit frame | Compounded gains across every landed hit | Maximizes total energy generation from a single cast. |
| Off-Field / Standby | Standard off-field tick | Standard off-field tick | Inactive party members do not charge faster in reserve. |
Because off-field party members do not benefit from an active attacker's Energy Recovery, the stat cannot turn a character into a passive party battery. An Aniimo must remain on the field and physically hit opponents to gain the stat's benefits.
Hit Counts and Rotation Cadence
Animation pacing and total hit count dictate energy generation far more than single-hit burst damage:
- Multi-hit strings provide exponential scaling: Because the bonus applies across each registered strike, attacks with multiple hit frames generate drastically more energy than slow, single-instance hits.
- On-field presence is mandatory: Energy generated by an active Aniimo does not accelerate the energy recharge of standby teammates.
- Bench units remain baseline: Allocating Energy Recovery to a secondary Aniimo will not recharge their gauge while they sit in reserve.
Stat Priority and Role Recommendations
Every Potential node allocated to Energy Recovery competes directly with core offensive stats and Break Potential. In high-difficulty encounters, breaking elite enemies creates extended vulnerability windows that usually outweigh the benefits of slightly faster skill cycling.
Allocate Energy Recovery based on kit structure and combat role:
- Multi-Hit Attackers (High Priority): Units that rely on rapid, multi-hit basic attack combos or multi-strike skills gain the largest return per combo cycle.
- Active Support Units (Situational): Utility units that need to deploy shields or healing bursts quickly benefit, provided their rotation leaves them on the field long enough to complete attack strings.
- Dedicated Breakers (Skip): Units built to stagger enemies should prioritize Break Potential. Staggering an opponent faster provides safe team-wide damage windows that cycling low-impact skills cannot match.
- Single-Hit Burst Finishers (Skip): Heavy, slow-striking damage dealers receive minimal return per attack sequence. Prioritize Attack, Critical Rate, and Critical Damage instead.

I tried this today and it worked better than my old setup.
This helped me understand strategy much better.
Nice guide. I am checking the other Aniimo articles next.
This saved me time in the early game.
