You do not need to reach the new archipelago region (Shiosai Archipelago / Whisperwake Isles) to catch the four new rainbow variants in Aniimo. During this limited-time event, all four specimens appear across standard mainland legacy maps on a rotating schedule. Because each variant scales to legacy zone combat levels rather than endgame archipelago difficulty, you can encounter and capture them using standard mainland gear.
Check the in-game event calendar at each daily server reset to confirm which wave is active, then travel to the target's designated habitat.
Spawn Locations and Rotation Schedule
The four rainbow variants appear in sequential waves rather than all at once. If you miss a creature's active window, you must wait for a rerun or unlock the archipelago to find it again.
| Variant Target | Legacy Region | Habitat Type | Event Window |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rainbow Dewple | Green Plains / Riverbeds | Shallow waters and shorelines | Wave 1 |
| Rainbow Nemunemu | Whisper Forest Glades | Shaded tree roots and clearings | Wave 2 |
| Rainbow Detectbat | Sunken Ruins & Caverns | Underground tunnels | Wave 3 |
| Rainbow Motorlang | Arid Highlands / Canyons | Rocky slopes and plateaus | Wave 4 |
Habitat Search Patterns
Each creature replaces common spawns in its respective biome:
- Rainbow Dewple: Patrol waterways, sandbars, and lake edges across the central plains. Look for a distinct chromatic sheen against the water and mud.
- Rainbow Nemunemu: Search beneath large timber trees and fallen logs in dense forest glades, especially during clear weather conditions.
- Rainbow Detectbat: Explore underground tunnels and rocky sinkholes. Unlike standard cave bats, this variant displays a glowing aura visible before entering aggro range.
- Rainbow Motorlang: Scout high-altitude plateaus, cliff tops, and dry ravines in arid areas. Scan downward from elevated ridges to spot it from a distance.
If a variant does not appear in its habitat, defeat or scatter the standard wild creatures in the immediate area to force a fresh spawn cycle.
Capture Strategy and Setup
While these variants spawn at lower levels than their archipelago counterparts, they retain reduced base capture rates and flee quickly if startled or damaged carelessly.
- Equip Mid-Grade Spheres: Baseline capture pods have a high failure rate against rainbow variants. Carry at least mid-tier spheres to avoid wasting attempts.
- Inflict Status Ailments: Apply sleep or paralysis immediately. This raises your catch multiplier and prevents the creature from executing an escape turn.
- Control Damage Output: Weaken the variant below 20% health using single-target physical skills. Avoid multi-hit elemental attacks that risk a fatal critical hit.
- Resetting Failed Spawns: If the creature flees, travel to an adjacent map node and return. Mainland spawn nodes reset quickly, allowing you to re-enter the area and attempt another encounter.
Event Tasks and Rewards
Capturing these creatures and completing active event challenges provides targeted progression materials through the event interface:
- Encounter Milestones: Registering each variant in your compendium rewards account experience and event capture currency.
- Capture Rewards: Securing each creature grants specialized variant candies, evolutionary catalyst packs, and stat-reroll stones.
- Daily Field Bounties: Defeating standard wild enemies near active event zones yields stamina restoratives and summon tickets.

I tried this today and it worked better than my old setup.
This helped me understand strategy much better.
