Aniimo: How to Perform Stealth Captures and Avoid Combat

To execute a successful stealth capture in Aniimo, approach wild creatures while crouched and utilize environmental cover to reach interaction range without initiating combat. Rushing targets triggers aggressive or fleeing states, forcing resource-intensive battles.

Reading Creature States and Line of Sight

Before moving into range, observe the target's behavior from a distance. Creatures exhibit idle animations such as grazing or patrolling, which show their current awareness level.

• Use Cover: Position your character behind rock formations or within tall grass to stay hidden.
• Watch Head Movements: Even stationary creatures rotate their heads toward sound sources. If a noise indicator appears, pause movement until the creature resumes its normal behavior.
• Drop from Elevation: If ground-level patrol paths block your path, jump from higher terrain to bypass a creature's direct line of sight.

Managing Approach Speed and Proximity

The interaction radius in Aniimo scales based on the creature species and your movement speed. Sprinting alerts nearby wildlife immediately.

1. Toggle Walking: Switch from running to walking when closing the final distance to prevent sound detection.
2. Monitor UI Prompts: Watch the interaction interface as you enter range. Available actions signal that you have reached the safe interaction zone.
3. Time Your Actions: Wait for the target to turn its back or enter a non-alert movement animation before pressing the interaction prompt. Avoid forcing interactions while a prompt is greyed out or while the creature is mid-animation.

Stealth Capture Conditions and State Responses

Managing Stamina and Knowing When to Retreat

Maintaining stamina is critical during a stealth approach. Maneuvers like dodging and moving while crouched consume stamina. If your stamina depletes entirely, your movement speed drops and your visibility increases, making detection far more likely.

• Maintain a 30% Stamina Reserve: Always keep at least 30% of your stamina bar full before starting an approach. This reserve provides the stamina needed to dash away and break line of sight if detected.
• Disengage Red UI States: When UI markers turn red, capture success rates fall near zero. Step back out of range rather than burning HP and consumable items in an unwanted fight. Once you break line of sight, the creature's state will reset after a few seconds, allowing a fresh stealth attempt.
