Build Hoplag if your frontline familiar is struggling to survive mid-tier dungeon bosses and heroic flag stages, but you lack the resources to farm an endgame bait familiar like Glarzdos. In Bit Heroes Quest, Hoplag serves as an intermediate Legendary tank fusion that bridges the gap between early-game budget tanks and high-tier raid options.

When to Fuse Hoplag

The decision to target Hoplag depends on your current progression tier and whether your existing tank can absorb incoming boss damage.

FamiliarRarityPrimary RoleInvestment Trade-Off
ShrampzEpicEarly-game frontline tankCheap to stable to +5, but falls off around Tier 7 to Tier 9
HoplagLegendaryMid-game progression tankHigher base stats and sustain; requires schematics and stabling
GlarzdosLegendaryLate-game bait tankTop-tier deflection and shields; requires farming 42 capture targets

A fully stabled (+5) Epic tank like Shrampz eventually hits a wall in Tier 7 through Tier 9, where boss attack scaling overwhelms flat health pools and basic block ratings. Conversely, assembling a +5 Glarzdos requires extensive farming in Tier 7+ zones and substantial energy investment. Hoplag offers an accessible alternative by providing Legendary-tier base stats and damage mitigation earlier in your progression.

If you already own a fully stabled Glarzdos or a dedicated mythic tank, skip Hoplag entirely.

Farming Requirements and Stabling Goals

A base (+0) Legendary familiar possesses stat distributions roughly equal to a max-stabled (+5) Epic familiar. To decisively outperform a +5 Shrampz, plan to fuse multiple copies of Hoplag to reach at least +2 or +3 in the stable.

  1. Target Component Dungeons: Farm the specific dungeon nodes containing Hoplag’s component monsters. Lock duplicate captures in your inventory immediately to avoid accidentally recycling them before fusing.
  2. Reserve Capture Currency: Keep a reserve of gold and gems available during runs so you can bribe component familiars if natural persuasion fails.
  3. Farm Schematics on Bonus Days: Run your highest unlockable heroic dungeons and World Bosses on schematic boost days (such as Fridays or weekend bonus rotations). Activate Item Find scrolls to improve drop rates from dungeon completion chests and boss encounters.

Team Placement and Augment Setup

Hoplag performs best in the primary frontline position (Slot 1) of a standard three-unit formation, absorbing single-target attacks and cleave damage to protect squishy backline units like Bor'lan or Remmyt.

Team Layout

  • Frontline (Slot 1): Hoplag
  • Middle (Slot 2): Player Character (Damage dealer or bait support)
  • Backline (Slot 3): Dedicated Healer / Buffer (Bor'lan or Remmyt)

Equip Hoplag with augments that reinforce mitigation and passive defense rather than damage output:

  • Major Augments: Choose Shield on Hit, Block Chance, or Deflect. Shield on Hit helps absorb follow-up burst damage after a direct attack.
  • Minor Augments: Prioritize Damage Reduction, Absorb, or Health bonuses. Avoid critical strike chance and critical damage augments, as Hoplag's role is team preservation rather than offensive burst.

During difficult encounters, save team skill points (SP) for your backline healer’s group heals and dispels. Allow Hoplag to generate meter through basic attacks and standard mitigation, reserving tank skills only for emergency shielding needs.
