In BLEACH Mirrors High, your avatar character can steal an enemy Bankai by depleting a Shinigami boss's posture gauge while that boss charges or executes an ultimate attack. Breaking the posture gauge triggers a contextual reaction prompt. Completing this timed prompt captures the target's Bankai as a modular core in your resonance archive. Once acquired, you can equip one copied Bankai at a time into your character's dedicated resonance ability slot.

How to Trigger Bankai Theft

Bankai extraction requires precise combat timing during eligible Shinigami boss encounters:

  1. Force an ultimate wind-up: Engage the boss until they initiate their Bankai release or charge an ultimate ability.
  2. Break the posture gauge: Focus heavy attacks to deplete the boss's posture bar before the release animation finishes.
  3. Execute the prompt: Press the contextual button prompt immediately when it appears on screen.

Succeeding in the prompt adds the target Bankai core to your archive permanently. Missing the prompt cancels the absorption, leaves your character open to a counterattack, and resets the enemy's posture gauge.

Equipping Stolen Bankai in the Customization Menu

Stolen abilities do not overwrite your avatar's base Zanpakuto moveset. Instead, they function as modular ultimate cores managed through the character customization hub.

  • Dedicated slot: You can equip only one active stolen Bankai core on your tactical ability bar at a time.
  • Spiritual pressure demand: Stolen skills consume significantly more energy than native Zanpakuto skills. Equip spirit-generation gear to prevent rotational downtime.
  • Element synergy: Match the element of your stolen Bankai with your avatar's primary gear to scale offensive modifiers against bosses with specific elemental weaknesses.

Stolen Bankai Archetypes and Trade-offs

Each captured Bankai fits into one of three functional archetypes, carrying distinct tactical benefits and balance penalties.

ArchetypePrimary FunctionIdeal MatchupStrategic Trade-off
High-Speed BurstGap-closing, single-target punctureAgile skirmishers, solo bossesNarrow hitboxes; consumes heavy stamina
Elemental Area DenialWide-area freezing, burning, or slowingClustered minion waves, multi-target fightsLong startup wind-up leaves avatar exposed
Defensive / CounterRetaliation barriers, crowd parriesAggressive melee attackersLow passive damage; ineffective against kiting targets

Activation Risks and Cooldown Penalties

Stolen Bankai serve as situational burst tools rather than spammable combo pieces due to severe system penalties:

  • Startup interruptions: Stolen skills feature long cast animations. If an enemy hits you during startup, the skill fails completely, forfeiting the spent spiritual pressure and triggering the full lockout timer.
  • Extended cooldowns: Copied Bankai cooldowns are roughly double the duration of standard Zanpakuto skills.
  • Optimal timing window: Cast your equipped Bankai only after applying a hard stun with a teammate, or immediately as a boss triggers a mid-fight shield phase to bypass damage mitigation barriers quickly.
