To clear Level 294 in Block Out without deadlocking, you must maintain at least one empty buffer tube throughout the puzzle. Do not use an empty tube as a general storage dump; use it strictly as a temporary turnstile to reveal buried colors and complete matching sets.

Assessing Tube Layout and Starting Moves

Before moving any blocks, review the full board to identify where colors are divided. Level 294 stacks four-block columns with multiple mixed segments, leaving very little spare capacity. Rushing to pair visible blocks without a plan can quickly clog open spaces and trap needed colors at the bottom of containers.

Look across the board for donor tubes—stacks where moving one or two top pieces immediately exposes a color that can merge into another partially filled tube. If a transfer does not reveal a matching piece or help clear a tube, delay that move.

Buffer Tube Management

An empty tube is your most important tool in Level 294. Depositing random blocks into an open tube eliminates your only flexible four-slot buffer and cuts your maneuvering room in half.

Keep these rules in mind when handling open slots:

  • Use empty columns only to facilitate multi-step transfers that complete a four-block stack or clear another tube entirely.
  • If you must place an unlinked block into an empty tube, choose a color that is widely exposed on the surface of other stacks so you can group pieces onto it immediately.
  • Once a temporary transfer sequence finishes, clear the buffer column again before starting a new sorting chain.

Transfer Priority Sequence

Executing transfers in a disciplined sequence prevents unresolvable board states. Work through available moves using this priority order:

  1. Complete finished stacks: If a tube already holds three matching pieces and the fourth is exposed elsewhere, transfer it immediately to seal that color.
  2. Consolidate surface pairs: Move isolated top blocks onto matching exposed blocks to open vertical capacity across active tubes.
  3. Expose buried foundation pieces: Target stacks that hide the bottom piece of a color you are actively assembling.
  4. Empty the shallowest mixed tube: Choose the mixed tube with the easiest exit paths for its top blocks, transfer them out, and regenerate an empty column.

Resolving Stalemate Loops and Finishing the Stage

Deadlocks in Level 294 commonly appear when two tubes trap each other's base pieces. For example, if Column A has blue trapped under red, and Column B has red trapped under blue, shuffling them back and forth will not solve the puzzle.

To break this loop, park the top blocking piece in an auxiliary column with available capacity. This temporary detour lets you extract the underlying block, assemble that color in its target tube, and retrieve the parked piece.

Once you fully assemble two color tubes, keep them closed. Do not break apart finished sets to create temporary room. Route remaining loose blocks directly into their matching columns while keeping one lane completely vacant until the final colors fall into place.
