To play the Druid Sub Ice loadout in Bloons TD Battles, place an unupgraded Druid near an early track bend, intentionally leak early bloons until your health drops into the 70 to 80 life range, and immediately upgrade to Heart of Vengeance to lock in up to a 100% attack speed boost. Once your life total is stabilized, deploy Obyn Greenfoot, a Monkey Sub for decamo coverage, and an Ice Monkey to control mid-game rushes while continuously scaling your bloon economy.
Early-Game Setup and Life Leak Sequencing
The core engine of this strategy relies on the Druid's bottom-path Heart of Vengeance upgrade, which increases firing speed as your life total decreases below the starting count. Dropping your lives early allows a low-cost defense to shred bloon densities that would normally require far heavier tower investment.
Execute the opening rounds using the following progression:
| Rounds | Target Upgrades | Defense Objective | Eco Focus |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rounds 1–3 | 0-0-0 Druid, Obyn Greenfoot | Leak spaced bloons down to 70–80 lives; deploy Obyn | Constant Grouped Reds |
| Rounds 4–6 | 0-1-2 Druid, 0-0-0 Monkey Sub | Buy Heart of Vengeance to stabilize; place Sub in water | Spaced Blues and Greens |
| Rounds 7–10 | 0-2-2 Druid, 2-0-0 Monkey Sub | Add Thorn Swarm and Barbed Darts for grouped bloons | Grouped Yellows and Pinks |
Do not upgrade the initial Druid until your health hits the 70 to 80 window. Stopping above 80 lives leaves valuable attack speed on the table, while dropping below 70 leaves you vulnerable to sudden pink bloon sends or network lag. Deploy Obyn Greenfoot nearby so his Level 3 Brambles ability can serve as an immediate safety net if bloons threaten to leak past your threshold.
By Round 7, upgrade your Druid to 0-2-2 Thorn Swarm for extra thorns per volley. Position your Monkey Sub in water along a straight track segment or central intersection, upgrading to 2-0-0 Advanced Intel to gain full-map targeting through your forward Druid and Obyn.
Mid-Game Defense Against Rushes
Between Rounds 11 and 16, opponents frequently send fast camo purples, regrow zebras, or rainbow rushes. Standard Druids cannot pop lead without specific upgrades, and purple bloons ignore magic and energy attacks, making Sub and Ice support mandatory.
- Strip Camo with Submerge: Upgrade your Monkey Sub to a 3-0-0 Bloontonium Reactor before Round 12. Keep it permanently submerged at an early track position to decamo every incoming bloon.
- Lock Down Choke Points: Place an Ice Monkey at your primary curve and upgrade to 0-1-2 or 2-0-3 Icicles. Icicles freezes grouped bloons and creates sharp shards that shred surrounding targets during Round 13 regrow rainbow or ceramic rushes.
- Catch Ceramics Globally: Add a 0-3-0 Druid of the Jungle. Its vine ability removes individual ceramic bloons from anywhere on the map, preventing regrow clusters from multiplying.
MOAB Defense and Economy Scaling
Starting on Round 17, pivot cash generation into Druid ability farming and prepare active defenses for MOAB-class airships:
- Druid Farming: Upgrade a secondary Druid to 0-4-0 Jungle’s Bounty. Activate the ability on cooldown for instant cash payouts, keeping your funds liquid without investing in Banana Farms.
- Ice Debuffs: Upgrade your Ice Monkey to a 4-2-0 Embrittlement or 0-4-0 Snowstorm. Embrittlement strips camo and applies a damage debuff to MOAB-class bloons, significantly amplifying damage from your speed-buffed Druids.
- MOAB Internal Absorption: Place Obyn’s Level 10 Wall of Trees near the track exit. The trees swallow the ceramic and lead bloons that spill out of broken MOABs, instantly converting them into cash bursts.
- First Strike Capability: Upgrade a water Sub to a 0-4-0 First Strike Submarine. Trigger the First Strike ability to instantly eliminate an incoming BFB or strip the outer layer of a ZOMG.
Late-Game DDT Stalls and Win Conditions
Surviving Round 26 and beyond requires prepared answers for Dark Dirigible Titans (DDTs), which combine camo, lead, and black immunities with high movement speed.
Keep a 3-0-0 or 4-0-0 Reactor Sub at the track entrance to remove DDT camo immediately. Place a 2-0-5 Icicle Impale Ice Monkey directly behind the decamo zone and set its targeting to Strong; the permafrost and metal-freezing properties slow decamoed DDTs to a crawl. Behind the stall, upgrade your primary Druid to a 0-2-5 Avatar of Wrath. Powered by your early life deficit, the Avatar of Wrath rapidly shreds grouped DDTs and heavy ZOMG layers.
Win matches by punishing aggressive opponents. Because First Strike and Icicle Impale handle heavy rushes with minimal tower count, you can maintain a substantial gold reserve. Once your abilities shut down an opponent's all-out attack, immediately counter-rush with a fast-cooldown ZOMG or grouped DDTs to close out the game.
