Pairing the Tack Shooter, Spike Factory, and Banana Farm creates an efficient defense in Bloons TD Battles that handles both dense midgame bloon swarms and late-game blimp rushes. To run this loadout effectively, deploy cheap Tack Shooters near track loops to safely greed Banana Farms early, rely on Spike Factories for automatic Camo and Lead coverage, and bank cash for reactive Blade Maelstrom and Spike Storm ability triggers.
Early-Game Setup and Farm Greed
Place your first Tack Shooter inside the tightest curve near the bloon entrance. Spaced bloon sends will generate cash while increasing your passive eco toward 275–300. Keep defensive spending low so your Banana Farm economy can scale before Round 12.
- Rounds 1–3: Place a 0-0 Tack Shooter on the entrance curve. Send spaced red and blue bloons to build eco, then place your first Banana Farm before Round 4.
- Rounds 4–6: Upgrade your Banana Farm to 1-0, then to 2-0. If the opponent pushes grouped bloons, purchase Faster Shooting or place a secondary 0-0 Tack Shooter at the curve rather than delaying the farm.
- Rounds 7–9: Upgrade your frontline Tack Shooter to a 0-3 Blade Shooter when pink and black bloons arrive. Place a second Banana Farm and upgrade it to 2-0.
Surrendering some natural life loss is normal during this phase. As long as your defense holds without buying unneeded upgrades, your farm lead will outvalue minor health leaks.
Defending Midgame Rushes
Rounds 10 through 18 test whether you can handle specialized bloon types without overspending on permanent towers. Place a Spike Factory at the back of the map near the exit track. Spikes persist across rounds, allowing them to pop Camo bloons automatically without a dedicated detection tower.
| Opponent Send | Primary Threat | Defensive Response | Resource Timing |
|---|---|---|---|
| Grouped Leads (Round 10–11) | Lead immunity to basic tacks | Drop a 2-0 Spike Factory (White Hot Spikes) near the track exit | Keep ~$1,300 on hand before Round 10 |
| Grouped Rainbows (Round 13) | Dense bloon pierce cap | Upgrade the frontline 0-3 Tack to a 0-4 Blade Maelstrom | Bank $2,700; trigger when bloons reach tower center |
| Camo Regrow Leads (Round 13) | Multi-layer hazard slipping past tacks | Upgrade exit Spike Factory to 3-2 Spiked Balls | Pre-place or upgrade as soon as leads queue |
| Ceramic Rushes (Round 15+) | High health layer leaks | 3-2 Spiked Balls at back plus 0-4 Blade Maelstrom | Spiked Balls absorb heavy ceramic shells |
Do not activate Blade Maelstrom prematurely. Wait until the bulk of the grouped rainbow or ceramic pack sits directly inside the Tack Shooter's attack radius so the spinning blades consume the entire rush.
Late-Game Blimp Defense: Using Spike Storm
Standard projectile towers often struggle against MOAB-class blimps on shorter maps. The fourth-tier Spike Factory ability, Spike Storm (0-4), counters this by instantly distributing spikes across every lane segment.
- Single MOAB (Round 18): A 3-2 Spiked Balls factory absorbs the MOAB outer shell. If ceramic insides break free, trigger a 0-4 Blade Maelstrom to wipe the clump instantly.
- BFBs (Round 20): Build one to two 0-4 Spike Factories. Trigger a Spike Storm to strip the BFB shell right as it enters the map, letting your track spikes handle the interior MOABs.
- Multiple ZOMGs (Round 22+): Construct three to four 0-4 Spike Factories. Let incoming ZOMGs travel roughly one-third of the path to allow passive exit spikes to accumulate. Trigger your first Spike Storm to break the ZOMG outer shells. Trigger a second Spike Storm when the blimp divides into BFBs, and clear the resulting ceramic wave with Blade Maelstrom.
Securing the Counter-Rush
Defending an all-out rush with abilities costs far less than sending one. Monitor your opponent's Banana Farm count and side-lane eco. If an opponent sells their farms on Round 13 or Round 18 to launch an aggressive push, focus entirely on defending with Blade Maelstrom or Spike Storm.
Once their push exhausts against your defenses, counter-attack while their cash pool is empty. Send fast-cooldown ceramics on Round 18 or an aggressive spaced BFB on Round 20 to close out the match. If the game extends beyond Round 22, use your farm advantage to buy additional 0-4 Spike Factories, send a fortified ZOMG, and activate your Spike Storms to invalidate any counter-rush they attempt.

The explanation is clear, especially for beginners.
Can you add more details about strategy in a future update?
I wish I had read this before upgrading the wrong thing.
