To win simulation battles in Browndust2 - Adventure RPG, evaluate the enemy grid during the Prepare phase, conserve your Skill Points (SP) for key rotations, and sequence control skills before high-damage area-of-effect attacks.

Skill Point (SP) Management

Skill Points dictate how many active abilities your team can execute in a turn. Running out of SP leaves your party relying on basic attacks, which exposes squishier damage dealers to counterattacks.

  • Opening Rounds: Use basic attacks or low-cost utility abilities during turn one to build your SP pool.
  • Burst Turns: Reserve heavy SP expenditure for turn two or turn three. This ensures your primary damage dealers have enough SP to execute high-cost ultimate skills simultaneously.
  • Target Priority: Focus high-cost single-target or area abilities on immediate threats to remove enemy actions from the turn order early.

Grid Positioning and Action Sequencing

Combat takes place on a quarter-view 3x4 simulation grid. Ability range and target selection depend entirely on character coordinates and unit turn order.

  1. Inspect Enemy Layouts: During the Prepare phase, check enemy coordinates and attack previews to identify hit patterns such as cross, linear, or diagonal shapes.
  2. Position Tanks Forward: Place high-defense units on the front line to absorb incoming linear and single-target enemy attacks.
  3. Sequence Displacement First: Set characters with knockback, push, or pull abilities to act early in the turn order. Move enemies into tighter clusters before your area-of-effect (AoE) units strike.
  4. Apply Buffs and Debuffs: Order support units to cast crowd-control skills or offensive buffs prior to your primary DPS units taking their turns.

Adapting to Formation Shifts

When enemy formations spread out to minimize AoE damage, adapt your team composition and skill utility rather than relying on a single static lineup.

  • Pattern Matching: Swap linear-striking characters for units with cross or diagonal attack shapes when facing wide enemy lines.
  • Displacement Control: Use push or knockback skills to force dangerous targets into battlefield traps or push them out of range of your vulnerable units.
  • Sustain Trade-Offs: If high-burst teams cannot eliminate enemy threats before taking lethal damage, swap an extra damage dealer for a defensive support unit to survive prolonged rounds.
