To unlock your first consort in Call Me Emperor, advance through the early stages of the main story campaign. Progressing past the opening rebel skirmishes automatically triggers an excursion event outside the imperial capital where your forces rescue an ambushed maiden. Completing this encounter and confirming the dialogue brings her into your court, which unlocks the Harem feature and heir system.

Unlocking the Consort Through the Campaign

Your first consort requires no Gold purchases or event draws. She unlocks through mandatory story battles:

1. Level Starting Ministers: Distribute early resources to strengthen your initial military roster so battles consume fewer troops.
2. Clear Early Stages: March through the opening campaign waves on the world map to push the story progression forward.
3. Trigger the Ambush Event: Conclude the opening chapter arc to initiate an excursion outside the palace, triggering a scripted combat encounter against hostile rogues.
4. Welcome Her to Court: Defeat the encounter and complete the follow-up dialogue. Once you return to the main city screen, the Harem gate unlocks with your maiden registered inside.

Consort Attributes and Resource Priorities

Entering the Harem introduces three primary attributes that govern consort progression:

• Charm: Determines how much Consort EXP you receive per visit or audience.
• Intimacy: Determines the potential, stat ceiling, and grade of royal heirs born during visits.
• Consort Skills: Passive bonuses linked directly to specific ministers, boosting Martial, Agriculture, Politics, or Trade stats.

Spend Free Energy on Random Visits

Visits generate Consort EXP and create chances to produce heirs. While targeted visits cost Gold, Random Visit uses regenerating energy points.

Because your starting consort is your only maiden early in the game, every Random Visit is guaranteed to land on her. Use all available energy on Random Visits and check in before the energy cap is reached to avoid wasting free regeneration. Avoid spending Gold on targeted visits at this stage.

Raise Charm Before Intimacy

Reward items such as Silver Hairpins, Wooden Combs, and Perfume Pouches raise either Charm or Intimacy. Allocate these items to Charm first.

Higher Charm increases the Consort EXP gained from every subsequent visit. If you raise Intimacy too early, visits produce minimal EXP, delaying skill progression. Once her Charm is high enough to generate several hundred EXP per visit, begin investing in Intimacy items to improve heir tiers and talent multipliers.
