To beat Candy Crush Saga Level 197, direct your opening moves toward breaking the multi-layered meringue frosting in the center and lower sections of the board. Clearing these central blockers connects the separated columns, allows candies to flow freely, and opens the space needed to form special candy combinations across the five available candy colors. Once the board is open, use Color Bomb and Striped Candy combinations to wipe out the remaining double jelly squares along the outer edges and corners.

Clear Central Blockers First

Level 197 requires clearing every double jelly tile before running out of moves. The starting board is split into narrow pockets by thick meringue frosting, restricting candy flow and preventing natural cascades. Because double jelly requires two matches or hits to remove completely, chasing isolated jellies before opening the board wastes limited moves.

Focus early moves exclusively on the thickest blockers according to target priority:

Target PriorityBoard AreaObjective
1Central FrostingReconnects board halves and enables regular candy drop
2Lower Base BlockersOpens bottom rows to trigger multi-column cascades
3Outer Corner JelliesCleared via targeted special candies or line blasts
4Upper Row JelliesCleared passively by falling cascades and secondary hits

Make vertical matches adjacent to the central meringue whenever possible to strip multiple layers simultaneously. Once candies drop into the bottom-center columns, ordinary gravity creates passive matches that erode adjacent blockers without extra move expenditure.

Create and Pair Special Candies

Level 197 features only five candy colors instead of the standard six. This smaller pool significantly raises the chance of crafting special candies once the central board is cleared. Avoid setting off single special candies on their own; combine them to clear multiple rows and columns in a single turn.

  • Color Bomb + Striped Candy: The most effective combination on this level. Swapping these turns every candy matching the striped candy's color into a striped candy, detonating across the board and removing a layer from nearly every jelly tile.
  • Wrapped Candy + Striped Candy: Creates a giant three-row by three-column cross blast. Trigger this in the bottom-middle area to eliminate dense meringue layers and hit stubborn lower jellies.
  • Color Bomb + Wrapped Candy: Clears all candies of one color, followed immediately by clearing all candies of a second color. This clears board clutter and triggers heavy cascading.

Target Edge and Corner Jellies

The corners and side columns are the most frequent cause of failure on Level 197. Candies rarely settle naturally into outer edges through gravity, making standard three-candy matches difficult in those spaces.

Use these tactics to eliminate outer tiles:

  1. Align a horizontal Striped Candy in the exact row containing an isolated corner jelly.
  2. Position a vertical Striped Candy directly above an edge column that needs clearing.
  3. Match a Color Bomb with the specific candy color currently resting directly on a trapped edge jelly to remove that layer instantly.

Move-Saving Rules

  • Play near the bottom: Avoid making simple matches in the top two rows unless no other move is available. Matches made near the bottom shift the largest number of candies above them, creating free chain reactions.
  • Check stripe directions: Always verify the direction of a Striped Candy before detonating it. Vertical stripes are best for punching channels through lower blockers, while horizontal stripes are required to clear hard-to-reach edge jellies.
