To beat Candy Crush Saga Level 7940 (formerly numbered as Level 7931) without using boosters, you must break the board's central blockers in your first few turns, combine special candies, and play near the bottom of the grid to generate cascades. With a strict limit of 23 moves, you cannot afford isolated three-candy matches that do not damage obstacles or create special pieces.

Step 1: Break Initial Blockers to Open the Board

The opening layout of Level 7940 restricts candy flow from the top dispensers with dense layers of blockers. Your first three to five moves must focus directly on damaging these obstructions.

  • Target direct contact: Prioritize standard matches that touch at least one blocker. Matches that hit two blockers at once are ideal.
  • Ignore high, open matches: A three-candy match near the top that hits nothing will waste a turn without opening candy flow.
  • Force downward flow: If no direct blocker hits are available on move one, make a match that shifts columns downward to reposition candies for adjacent hits on move two.

Clearing blockers increases the active grid size, allowing standard drops to replenish the board and increasing the odds of naturally aligning four-candy and five-candy specials.

Step 2: Combine High-Impact Special Candies

Simple three-candy matches cannot clear enough board space within 23 moves. Once the board expands, focus on creating and combining special candies rather than detonating them individually.

  • Color Bomb + Striped Candy: The most impactful combination for this stage. It converts every candy sharing the striped candy's color into a striped candy and fires them simultaneously, wiping out wide blocker clusters across the grid.
  • Wrapped Candy + Striped Candy: Creates a 3x3 directional cross that sweeps three rows and three columns at once. Detonate this combo along rows or columns crowded with remaining obstacles.
  • Color Bomb + Wrapped Candy: Clears all candies of the chosen color, then sweeps a second color from the board to trigger substantial cascading drops.
  • Double Wrapped Candies: Produces two consecutive 5x5 blasts. Use this pair when dense, multi-layered blockers are clustered in a compact section.

If you create an isolated striped or wrapped candy, scan the board to see if you can align a second special piece beside it in one or two moves before setting it off alone.

Step 3: Match at the Bottom to Trigger Cascades

When you do not have a direct blocker match or a special candy setup, make your matches in the bottom two rows. Candy Crush Saga uses gravity-fed column refills, so low-board clears drop the maximum number of candies above them.

Cascades help you beat the 23-move limit in three ways:

  1. Passive obstacle damage: Falling candies frequently match next to remaining blockers, breaking them without spending extra turns.
  2. Incidental special candies: Gravity-fed drops naturally create striped, wrapped, or Color Bomb candies in open columns.
  3. Board refreshes: Dropping multiple columns reshuffles stagnant upper sections that lack productive matches.

Move Economy and Turn Decisions

Move tunneling—spending three or more turns trying to align one specific special piece—is the most common cause of failure on this level. Use the following decision rules to protect your 23-move allowance:

Board SituationCorrect ActionReason
Isolated three-match high on the gridSkip unless it directly damages a blockerHigh matches create minimal movement and do not clear space.
Color Bomb setup vs. direct three-candy blocker hitCreate the Color BombA Color Bomb clears far more blockers across subsequent turns.
No specials available and blockers out of reachMatch in the lowest accessible rowTriggers falling cascades that passively break blockers and drop new candies.
Single Striped Candy against a wall or edgeHold for a combination partner if safeDetonating an isolated stripe on an empty edge wastes its clearing range.

Before making any move, check the board to ensure the switch will not prematurely detonate an uncombined Color Bomb or push a wrapped candy out of position. Taking calculated, low-board actions keeps you on pace to clear all objectives before move 23 runs out.
