To get the most value out of the Clash of Clans July Summer Jam upgrade event, keep your builders active on high-cost defenses, spend surplus Gold and Elixir on instant wall upgrades, and lock in long construction timers right before the event ends.

Upgrade discounts apply to the initial price at the moment construction starts. Any upgrade initiated during the promotional period retains its discounted cost even if construction finishes after the event concludes.

Builder Scheduling and Wall Sinks

Wall segments complete instantly and require no builder construction time. Because of this mechanic, walls serve as the most effective sink for extra resources earned during heavy farming sessions.

Choose one of two builder strategies to keep resources flowing without leaving builders idle:

  • Keep One Builder Free: Leave a single builder unassigned if you raid continuously. This allows you to dump millions of Gold and Elixir directly into walls between raids without waiting on timers.
  • Stagger Builder Timers: If you prefer using every builder, space their completion times roughly 12 to 18 hours apart. Each time a builder finishes a project, spend your accumulated loot on wall segments before assigning that builder to a new defense.
  • Target Core Junctions First: Direct wall spending to central compartments enclosing your Town Hall and primary defenses to hinder enemy ground attacks.

Defensive Upgrade Priorities

Focus early builders on core defensive structures with high base costs. Cutting the price of expensive defenses yields larger absolute resource savings than upgrading cheaper perimeter defenses.

StructurePriorityEconomic ValueBuilder Strategy
Resource StoragesHigh (Early)Raises loot capsUpgrade first to hold enough resources for top-tier builds.
Eagle ArtilleryHighMaximum absolute Gold savingsPair with a Book of Building to finish construction instantly.
ScattershotsHighHigh Gold savings on heavy splash damageUpgrade separately to keep splash coverage active across the village.
Inferno TowersModerateConsistent Gold savingsUpgrade one at a time to prevent multi-target defense gaps in Clan Wars.

Upgrading heavy defenses temporarily weakens your layout. Avoid starting multiple primary splash defenses at the same time if your clan participates in active wars.

Magic Items and Skin Budgeting

Magic items and currency reserves require specific timing during promotional discounts:

  1. Prioritize Builder Potions over Hammers: Hammer of Building items bypass resource costs entirely, offering less relative economic value when costs are already halved. Builder Potions multiply build speed across all active builders, allowing you to cycle through multiple discounted projects.
  2. Use Books of Building on Core Defenses: Save Books of Building for your most expensive upgrades, such as the Eagle Artillery, to skip multi-day downtime.
  3. Separate Cosmetic Purchases from Base Progression: Leaked seasonal hero skins generally arrive through the Gold Pass, direct shop offers, or gems. If account progression is your main priority, save gems for Goblin Builder usage or Trader items like Research Potions and Pet Potions. Players buying a skin should consider the Gold Pass track to stack its builder discount perks with the event.
  4. Lock In Final Upgrades Before Reset: Fill your resource storages on the final day of Summer Jam. Assign every available builder to your longest, most expensive upgrades minutes before the event ends to lock in the discounted pricing for the duration of those builds.
