To win the 20-Win Challenge in Clash Royale using Royal Giant, play passively during single elixir, defend using Fisherman and Hunter, and avoid deploying your Royal Giant until you hold a confirmed elixir advantage or reach double elixir. Surviving support units should then be turned into counter-pushes by placing the Royal Giant at the river directly in front of them.
Core Royal Giant Deck Build
This archetype pairs Royal Giant with a defensive backbone capable of stopping beatdown pushes and bridge spam, recycling low-cost cards to adapt to opposing counters.
| Card | Elixir Cost | Tactical Role |
|---|---|---|
| Royal Giant | 6 | Primary win condition; deals ranged Crown Tower chip damage. |
| Fisherman | 3 | Defensive control; pulls heavy threats into the center or away from Royal Giant. |
| Hunter | 4 | Heavy point-blank damage against aerial threats and high-health ground tanks. |
| Royal Ghost | 3 | Stealth ground splash; controls swarms and applies passive pressure. |
| Skeletons | 1 | Cycle card; distracts single-target attackers and speeds up rotations. |
| Electro Spirit | 1 | Resets charge mechanics (such as Inferno units) and clears cheap swarms. |
| Lightning / Fireball | 6 / 4 | Direct heavy damage to clear defensive buildings and grouped support troops. |
| The Log / Barbarian Barrel | 2 | Ground swarm defense, knockback utility, and positive elixir trades. |
Single-Elixir Gameplan: Defense and Card Identification
Dropping an unsupported Royal Giant at the bridge during single elixir is the quickest way to lose a challenge match. At a 6-elixir cost, it leaves you with only 4 elixir to counter sudden opposite-lane rushes.
Follow this sequence during the first two minutes:
- Force the opponent to act first: Cycle Skeletons, Electro Spirit, or Royal Ghost behind your King Tower if your opponent refuses to play.
- Scout counters: Identify the opponent's defensive building (Cannon, Tesla, or Inferno Tower) and primary tank killer (P.E.K.K.A, Mini P.E.K.K.A, or Lumberjack).
- Punish back-row heavy investments: If the opponent deploys a heavy tank like Golem or Lava Hound behind their King Tower in single elixir, immediately deploy Royal Giant at the opposite bridge to force them to split their defensive spending.
- Preserve your heavy spell: Keep your Lightning or Fireball in hand for defense or high-value offensive trades. Do not spend it solely for tower damage early on.
Overcoming Key Defensive Counters
Reaching 20 wins requires neutralizing defensive buildings and high-damage melee units efficiently.
Defensive Buildings
- Inferno Tower: Support Royal Giant with an Electro Spirit to break the beam ramp-up, or use Lightning to strike the tower and surrounding units. Placing Royal Giant toward the outer edge of the river can also adjust firing angles so supporting troops assist faster.
- Tesla and Cannon: Wait for the building to appear before committing spells. Combine Fireball with The Log to remove Cannon while clipping the Crown Tower. Against Tesla, time your spell placement to hit the moment it un-burrows to target the Royal Giant.
Heavy Tank Killers
- P.E.K.K.A and Mini P.E.K.K.A: Deploy Fisherman behind your Royal Giant on offense. As the defender engages your giant, Fisherman's hook pulls the enemy away, resetting its pathing and allowing the Royal Giant to land additional hits on the Crown Tower.
- Center King Activations: On defense, position Fisherman in the center of your side, two to three tiles from the river, to drag approaching enemy tanks into range of both Princess Towers and activate the King Tower.
Double and Triple Elixir: Transitioning to Counter-Pushes
Once elixir generation doubles, transition from purely reactive play to continuous offensive pressure:
- Deploy at the river: When Hunter or Fisherman survives a defensive stand, immediately drop Royal Giant directly at the river in front of them so it absorbs tower fire while the surviving defenders deal damage.
- Spell-cycle defensive placements: When opponents place defensive troops adjacent to their Crown Tower, cast Lightning or Fireball to clear the troops and collect guaranteed tower chip damage.
- Manage split-lane pressure: Never spend your entire elixir bar supporting an offensive push if the opponent has bridge threats available. Absorb minor chip damage on an off-lane tower when necessary, but keep enough elixir to prevent an uncontested tower loss.
