To clear stages in CubeAway without running out of moves, you must remove blocks in a sequence that keeps paths open. Every block has a directional arrow indicating the only direction it can move. A block can only be cleared if its arrow points toward empty space. If the arrow points into another block, it remains locked until that obstruction is cleared.

Clear Outer Blocks First

Begin each puzzle by scanning the perimeter of the 3D structure for accessible cubes.

  • Target outer edges: Look for blocks on the exterior that face directly outward into open space.
  • Expose inner layers: Removing an accessible outer piece reveals the hidden sides and arrows of interior blocks.
  • Maintain clearance: Work systematically from the outer faces toward the center to steadily reduce the total density of the grid.

If an outer block points toward another solid piece, leave it alone until you can clear the piece blocking its line of sight.

Use Camera Rotation to Verify Paths

CubeAway requires full spatial awareness because perspective can hide obstructions. A block that looks free from the front may actually be blocked by a cube positioned directly behind or beneath it.

Rotate the model constantly to inspect:

  1. Undersides and rear faces: Check for hidden arrows that are not visible from the default starting view.
  2. True alignment: Confirm whether two pieces sit in the same row or are offset in depth.
  3. Interlocking pairs: Identify blocks that point directly into each other so you can plan which side to unblock first.

Do not tap a block until you have rotated the view to confirm that its entire exit path is completely clear.

Prevent Deadlocks and Grid Congestion

Grid congestion happens when outer blocks are removed without creating exit paths for deeper cubes, leaving remaining pieces facing into one another.

To maintain a steady flow of valid moves:

  • Trace exit routes: Before tapping an accessible block, check whether its removal opens a clear path for a trapped interior cube.
  • Check opposite sides: If you run out of moves on one side of the structure, rotate to the opposite face. Clearing a block on the far side often opens up clearance for trapped pieces deep inside the stack.
  • Clear front layers systematically: Work inward layer by layer rather than pulling random blocks from deep within a cluster.
