To solve Level 106 in CubeAway, dismantle the outer perimeter and boundary cap blocks before touching the tall central column. The puzzle centers on a vertical pillar with long arrows running down its right face. These vertical pieces cannot move while outer lateral guards and capping blocks seal their exit trajectory.
Structural Overview and Removal Order
Every block in CubeAway moves strictly along the trajectory indicated by its arrow. In Level 106, the vertical runners along the pillar require a completely open vertical path to exit the board. Tapping them early causes collisions against the surrounding pieces that pin them in place.
Clear the puzzle zones in this order:
| Puzzle Zone | Arrow Direction | Priority | Strategic Role |
|---|---|---|---|
| Outer Flanks | Left / Right / Outward | First | Removes perimeter obstacles and exposes inner joints |
| Top & Bottom Caps | Up / Down / Lateral | Second | Clears the entry and exit corridors for vertical pieces |
| Tall Column Runners | Downward Vertical | Third | Ejects the primary structural spine running down the right face |
| Inner Core Remnants | Multi-axis Outward | Final | Cleans up the loose blocks remaining after the column collapses |
Step 1: Strip the Perimeter Blocks
Begin by identifying blocks whose arrows point directly away from the pillar into open space.
- Rotate the puzzle 360 degrees. Inspect every face of the column to find arrows pointing horizontally outward without any obstructing pieces ahead of them.
- Remove corner pieces first. Exterior corner blocks have the fewest neighboring connections, making them the safest starting moves.
- Leave inward-facing blocks alone. Do not tap blocks pointing toward the pillar core until outer clearance exists.
Removing these outer pieces eliminates visual clutter and exposes the cap blocks holding the vertical runners.
Step 2: Clear the Boundary Caps
After stripping the exterior flank pieces, inspect the top and bottom ends of the long vertical column on the right side.
Angle the camera downward from an overhead perspective to check the upper boundary. Locate the tiles capping the top edge of the vertical column and trace their directional arrows. Slide these cap pieces out laterally. If a bottom cap exists along the downward path, rotate to the base and eject it as well.
The vertical column cannot move until both ends of its slide corridor are completely unobstructed.
Step 3: Eject the Vertical Column and Clear the Core
Once the exit corridor is open, disassemble the vertical runner chain down the right side of the pillar.
- Tap the lead vertical block. Select the vertical arrow situated closest to the open exit channel to slide it out of the puzzle.
- Follow the sequence downward. When the lead block leaves, tap the vertical arrow immediately behind it along the same path.
- Check for lateral snags. If a vertical piece refuses to slide, rotate the camera to locate any remaining flank guard resting against its edge. Remove that side block, then resume clearing the vertical chain.
- Sweep the remaining core. Once the long vertical runners are cleared, the structural spine of the pillar is gone. Tap the remaining interior blocks along their outward paths to finish the stage.
How to Prevent Deadlocks
Level 106 causes deadlocks when players misjudge block depth on the narrow pillar. A flat, head-on camera angle can make an obstructed block appear open.
Keep the camera positioned at an angled, 45-degree isometric view throughout the stage. This reveals whether a block's path crosses an adjacent column. If an arrow shakes without moving when tapped, rotate the puzzle 90 degrees to pinpoint the exact tile blocking its exit line, clear that obstruction first, and return to the main sequence.

This helped me understand strategy much better.
Nice guide. I am checking the other CubeAway articles next.
The tips are practical and easy to follow.
I wish I had read this before upgrading the wrong thing.
