Dead Cells+ on PC is a roguevania action platformer built around repeated attempts through a sprawling, ever-changing castle. You play as a failed alchemic experiment investigating what happened on a gloomy island, with the immediate task of fighting through the castle’s keepers, minions, and bosses. The setting is presented as a connected world rather than a series of isolated stages, but its layout and route choices are shaped by the game’s rogue-lite structure. Each run asks you to move through dangerous 2D environments, defeat enemies, gather the tools and advantages available along the way, and decide how much longer to push your luck before permadeath sends you back to your cell. The basic rhythm is deliberately direct: kill, die, learn, and repeat.

Combat is the center of every run, and survival depends less on simply attacking than on learning enemy patterns and reacting to them under pressure. Dead Cells’ frantic, dynamic action gives you a wide variety of weapons and skills to work with, so the choices made during a run can influence both your build and the way you approach the next encounter. The nonlinear progression lets you unlock new levels after death and choose the path that best fits your current build, playstyle, or mood. That choice can mean weighing the danger of the ramparts against the hazards of the sewers, or deciding whether to explore every nook and cranny of a route instead of rushing toward the end. Exploration therefore has a strategic purpose: you are not only looking for a way forward, but also shaping the conditions of the run you are trying to preserve.

The additional content expands that loop with new places, opponents, equipment, and bosses rather than changing the game’s basic identity. The Bad Seed DLC adds the Dilapidated Arboretum and the Morass of the Banished, along with enemies such as the Jerkshroom and Yeeter, the Scythe Claw and Rhythm n’ Bouzouki weapons, and the Mama Tick boss. Fatal Falls takes the action to the Fractured Shrines, Undying Shores, and Mausoleum, with threats including the Cold Blooded Guardians and a confrontation with the Scarecrow. Queen and the Sea adds a rotten shipwreck, a burning lighthouse, weapons such as a throwable shark, trident, and pirate hook hand, and two more bosses. Return to Castlevania provides a separate vampire-slaying storyline featuring Alucard and Richter Belmont, Dracula’s Castle and its outskirts, the Vampire Killer and Holy Water, and bosses including Death and Dracula. These additions also bring new outfits, enemies, and, in the Castlevania content, alternative soundtracks.

A PC setup is well suited to a game that asks for quick reactions and frequent route decisions. A larger display makes it easier to read the shape of a room, spot platforms and hazards, follow the visual information around enemies, and keep track of branching paths while moving through interconnected areas. Keyboard controls can also give movement, jumping, dodging, attacks, and skill activation a consistent layout during frantic encounters, which is useful when an enemy pattern leaves only a brief opening to respond. Mouse input is particularly practical when navigating menus and reviewing the available weapons, skills, outfits, and other choices between fights, helping you compare options before committing to a build. The mobile version also includes Original and Auto-Hit modes, custom control options, and external controller support, but on PC the central appeal remains the same: master the combat, make informed route choices, unlock more of the castle, and turn each failed run into knowledge for the next attempt.
