Every run asks you to make decisions with incomplete certainty. You roll a set of dice, select the unwanted results, and spend rerolls to chase stronger combinations. A modest hand may be enough to keep a run moving, while a riskier choice can pursue the ultimate poker hand and create a much larger payoff. The tension comes from deciding how far to push your luck, when to settle for a useful result, and when to preserve your opportunities for a later hand. If you run out of hands, the run ends, but failure is part of the structure: each attempt gives you another chance to test a different approach against Kalma and see how far your choices can carry you.

The deckbuilding layer gives those rolls their real strategic identity. During a run, you choose skulls to add to your deck, with each one offering a powerful or potentially game-breaking ability that can alter the value of an otherwise poor dice result. You can pursue synergies that turn the worst hand around, build around effects that reward risky play, or assemble combinations designed to activate as many skulls as possible when you play a hand. Rerolls are therefore more than a way to improve numbers; they are a resource for setting up the interactions your deck needs, and careful pacing can be as important as the final hand itself. Chosen hands can also be upgraded to increase their value, giving you another way to strengthen a strategy and complement the skulls you have collected. On PC, a larger display helps keep the dice, available skull abilities, hand values, and upgrade choices readable at the same time, which is useful when you are comparing a safe hand with a speculative combo or checking how many effects can be activated together. Keyboard-and-mouse input also suits the repeated precision of selecting individual unwanted dice, rerolling only the results you want to replace, choosing skulls, and activating a sequence of abilities without losing track of the current hand.
