In Dislyte, an Esper's gear build depends on matching percentage main stats to the bottom three equipment slots while avoiding flat primary stats. Upper slots always drop with fixed attributes, but lower slots roll variable stats that dictate your combat scaling. To preserve gold and maximize stats, sell bottom-row pieces that carry flat Attack, flat Defense, or flat HP, and keep flat Speed on the bottom-right slot.
Gear Slot Main Stat Distribution
Every Esper equips six gear pieces: three upper pieces and three lower pieces. Upper pieces always roll the same primary stat regardless of rarity or set. Lower pieces pull from distinct stat pools, making them the primary factor when deciding whether a piece is worth enhancing.
| Slot Position | Available Primary Stats | Primary Stat Targets |
|---|---|---|
| Upper-Left | Flat ATK (Fixed) | Substat quality (Speed, Crit stats, ATK%) |
| Upper-Middle | Flat DEF (Fixed) | Substat quality (Speed, DEF%, HP%) |
| Upper-Right | Flat HP (Fixed) | Substat quality (Speed, HP%, DEF%) |
| Lower-Left | Flat or % HP, DEF, ATK | ATK%, HP%, or DEF% |
| Lower-Middle | Flat or % HP, DEF, ATK, C.RATE, C.DMG | C.DMG, C.RATE, HP%, or ATK% |
| Lower-Right | Flat or % HP, DEF, ATK, SPD, ACC, RES | SPD, HP%, DEF%, or ACC |
Flat Stats vs. Percentage Stats
Percentage main stats multiply an Esper's white base stats earned through leveling and star ascension. Flat main stats simply add an absolute number to the total. Because ascended mid-game and late-game Espers have high baseline values, a percentage increase yields significantly higher numbers than a flat boost.
The sole exception to this rule is Speed on the bottom-right slot. Speed does not roll as a percentage value. Because turn manipulation and first-turn priority govern battle flow, a flat Speed bottom-right piece is an essential item for controllers and action-gauge pushers.
Substat Upgrades and the +6 Rule
Gear rarity dictates how many substats are unlocked when a piece drops, up to Flawless (red) tier, which begins with all four substats visible at level 0. Gear gains bonus rolls or unlocks new substats every three levels: at +3, +6, +9, +12, and +15.
Upgrades become increasingly expensive in gold at higher ranks. To protect your resources:
- Target cohesive substats: Damage-dealer gear should contain complementary stats such as Critical Rate, Critical Damage, Attack Percentage, and Speed. Defensive gear should focus on HP Percentage, Defense Percentage, Resistance, and Speed.
- Identify multi-roll potential: Only pieces starting with three or four visible substats can roll three or four upgrades into a single high-priority stat.
- Apply the +6 stopping point: Upgrade promising pieces to +6 first. If both bonus rolls miss your desired target attributes and land on unwanted flat stats, stop upgrading immediately and sell or repurpose the piece.
Set Synergies and Filtering Inventory
Espers require a complete 4-piece set and a 2-piece set to activate passive bonuses; broken sets provide no set bonus and should only be used if an unmatched piece provides necessary Speed rolls for opening turns in Point War.
- Fighters: Pair 4-piece War (Attack scaling) or Thunder (Critical Damage) with 2-piece Fiery (Critical Rate).
- Supports and Controllers: Run 4-piece Wind (Speed and turn cycling) with 2-piece Apollo (Accuracy to bypass enemy Resistance).
When clearing Ritual Miracle, Sonic Miracle, or event stages, immediately sell any lower-row piece that features flat HP, flat Defense, or flat Attack as its primary attribute. Lock bottom-right Speed main stat pieces and any gear from sets like Wind or Thunder that roll innate Speed substats before spending gold on enhancements.

The explanation is clear, especially for beginners.
This helped me understand strategy much better.
