To beat the Showdown Guild Assignment mission in Dome Keeper, skip early weapon upgrades entirely and spend your uninterrupted preparation phase scaling your drill, carry capacity, and hauling gadgets. Because monsters gather for a single massive attack instead of sending periodic waves, you only need combat power when the countdown ends. Stop exploring during the final minutes, return all mined iron and cobalt to the dome, and spend your reserves on weapon damage, tracking speed, dome health, and shields.

How the Showdown Mission Changes Your Routine

Standard runs force you to return to the surface every few minutes to defend against incremental waves. Showdown removes those periodic attacks and gives you an extended preparation phase before one concentrated assault.

This change eliminates surface-travel interruptions while you dig, but it also removes your usual combat feedback. Without intermediate waves to test your defenses, buying weapon upgrades too early stalls your mining economy, while waiting until the final seconds to haul and spend leaves your dome glass vulnerable to the amassed swarm.

Preparation Phase Mining Strategy

With no wave alarms pulling you back to the surface, focus your opening minutes on reaching deep, high-density resource veins and underground relic chambers.

  • Prioritize drill strength first: Upgrade your drill power early so you can break through hardened rock tiers without losing momentum and expose deeper clusters of iron, cobalt, and water.
  • Increase carry strength and speed: Since you do not have to abandon loads for incoming waves, upgrade carrying capacity and jetpack speed to haul bulk deposits in fewer trips.
  • Dig a vertical trunk with side branches: Drill a clean vertical shaft and cut horizontal exploratory branches every two to three tiles. You can drop mined resources down the main shaft toward a central collection point for faster return runs.
  • Hunt for hauling gadgets: Open relic chambers early. Utility gadgets such as the Lift or Teleporter save significant transit time over a long, uninterrupted dig.

Upgrade Timing and Resource Allocation

Separate your run into an economic phase and a defense phase so you do not waste early iron on weapons that sit idle.

Mid PrepDeep mining and gadget utilityDrill Tier 3, gadget upgrades, ore detectionIron and Water
Final MinutesCombat power and durabilityPrimary weapon damage, tracking speed, dome max HP, shieldingIron and Cobalt

Stockpile cobalt during the mid-game alongside your iron. Iron funds your primary weapon upgrades and structural reinforcement, while unspent cobalt is essential for emergency dome repairs during the assault.

When the preparation timer enters its final stretch, stop exploratory digging. Haul all mined ore back to the dome bay, process it, and pour your remaining resources into weapon damage, weapon tracking speed, dome maximum HP, and shield amplification.

Surviving the Final Assault

When the timer hits zero, the entire enemy force attacks at once, combining small fliers, diving bats, ranged artillery bugs, and heavy burrowers across the sky and ground flanks.

  1. Eliminate heavy ground and diving threats first: Do not chase lone fliers at the edge of the screen while ground smashers and explosive divers hit your base. Kill frontline ground pounders and divers first to prevent rapid burst damage to your hull.
  2. Sweep aerial clusters second: Once the heavy ground units are thinned out, use broad tracking arcs or piercing beams from your primary dome weapon to clear the flying swarms.
  3. Trigger defensive gadgets at peak density: If you found support gadgets such as the Stun Laser, Blast Doors, or Shield Overcharge, activate them as the main swarm arrives to blunt the initial burst damage.
  4. Repair before critical failure: Watch your dome integrity meter and spend cobalt on repairs between bursts of focused enemy fire rather than waiting until the hull is nearly broken.
