To maximize infinite stat stacking in DRAGON BALL Z DOKKAN BATTLE, build your units for Additional Attacks in the Hidden Potential system, shelter them in Slot 2 or Slot 3 during the opening turns, and deliberately slow down early phases so they can launch multiple Super Attacks. Because Super Attack defensive buffs apply multiplicatively against start-of-turn passives, consistent Super Attacks turn low turn-one defense into high endgame durability for prolonged boss fights.

How Infinite Stacking Works

Infinite stacking refers to Super Attack effects that raise ATK or DEF without stating a turn restriction. In the game's mechanics, temporary combat buffs explicitly state their duration, such as "for 1 turn" or "for 3 turns." When an effect simply reads "Raises DEF" or "Raises ATK & DEF," the game code applies a 99-turn duration.

Because boss fights finish long before 99 turns pass, these buffs act as permanent stat increases. Each time the character launches a Super Attack or an Ultra Super Attack, the specified percentage boost is added to their cumulative buff total. These enhancements persist across multi-phase fights and boss health bar transitions.

ATK Stacking vs. DEF Stacking

DEF stacking provides vastly superior defensive value compared to the offensive gains of ATK stacking due to how damage calculations interact with passive skills:

  • ATK Stacking: The percentage boost from an ATK-raising Super Attack is added directly into the Super Attack multiplier. Extreme Z-Awakened (EZA) characters and LRs already have base Super Attack multipliers between 505% and 645%, so an additional 30% ATK stack yields only a minor percentage increase to overall damage.
  • DEF Stacking: Super Attack DEF buffs calculate as a separate multiplicative phase in the defense formula. The buff multiplies the unit's base stats, Leader Skill boost, and start-of-turn passive skill total. Every individual stack compounds the unit's actual damage mitigation.

Hidden Potential and Skill Orb Setup

To accelerate stat accumulation, tailor the unit's build to trigger multiple Super Attacks per turn:

  1. Max Additional Attack (Combo Attack): Invest every available node into Additional Attack. A second or third Super Attack in a single turn cuts the time required to build reliable defense in half.
  2. Remaining Nodes to Dodge or Critical Hit: Route secondary nodes based on unit needs. Avoid heavy Critical Hit investment on defensive stackers unless the character already has built-in additional Super Attacks.
  3. Bronze Skill Orb: Equip a flat raw DEF Skill Orb to raise the baseline stat that multipliers scale from.
  4. Silver and Gold Skill Orbs: Equip Additional Attack or hybrid Combo Attack/DEF Skill Orbs.

A normal additional attack does not grant a Super Attack stack. Maximizing Combo Attack investment raises the chance that an extra attack rolls as a Super Attack.

Rotation and Slot Placement

Stacking units face the highest risk of taking severe damage on turns one and three because their defensive increases apply only after they attack.

  • Turns 1 to 5 (Early Phases): Place stackers in Slot 2 or Slot 3. Shelter them behind units with innate damage reduction, guard, or high start-of-turn baseline defense to avoid taking unstacked hits before attacking.
  • Turn 6 and Later (Final Phases): Shift the stacker into Slot 1 once their accumulated defense surpasses the incoming damage threshold of the boss's normal attacks.

Controlling Battle Pacing

Defeating early phases too quickly leaves stacking units unprepared for difficult final phases. To farm stacks safely during early stages:

  • Intentionally collect fewer Ki spheres on non-stacking offensive units to avoid triggering their maximum Ultra Super Attacks.
  • Move high-damage offensive units off-rotation temporarily if a phase is ending before your stackers can act.
  • Prolong early low-threat phases by an extra turn or two to give your stacking characters more rotation appearances.

Limitations in Short Content and Boss Checks

Infinite stacking requires time to function and struggles in short, burst-oriented stages. Modes that feature lethal damage immediately—such as rapid three-turn challenges or aggressive opening phases in Red Zone events—often defeat stacking units before they can launch enough attacks to build sufficient defense.

Furthermore, raw DEF stacking alone functions as flat damage subtraction. Against modern multi-million-damage boss Super Attacks, relying purely on defense stat totals requires immense buildup. In premier endgame content, prioritize stackers that combine infinite DEF stacking with passive damage reduction, guard, or high evasion to survive early attacks while building their stats.
