Protect Passive Generators in Core Grid Zones

Clearing a row immediately resets the active timer on tiles that produce gold, units, or defensive buffs. To keep your economy scaling without risking an immediate overload, split your grid into functional zones:

• Center Grid (Safe Zone): Place passive income tiles and compounding generators in the center slots. These locations are less likely to trigger forced row clears, allowing passive effects to tick undisturbed.
• Perimeter Lanes: Use outer rows and edges to absorb incoming tile placements and handle immediate enemy pressure.

If clearing a row removes key synergy pieces or stops a generator right before its payout, leave the row partially filled for one or two extra turns while managing threats on the outer edges.

Evaluate Clear Timing

Clearing a row should be a deliberate reaction to board conditions rather than an automatic goal. When deciding whether to finish a row, evaluate three key factors in order of priority:

1. Threat Level: Clear immediately only if an enemy unit is about to breach your defenses at your gates.
2. Synergy Protection: Hold the clear if removing those specific tiles breaks active adjacency buffs or unit bonuses you rely on for survival.
3. Resource Payout: Execute the clear if the immediate resource reward provides the exact funds needed to purchase an essential tile from the shop.

If a row contains weak units or utility pieces that are no longer contributing to active buffs, prioritize clearing that row over one holding active synergy engines.

Prevent Grid Lock

Holding tiles on the board increases defensive pressure, as enemies remain active longer. Delaying clears also reduces free space, creating the risk of grid lock—the complete loss of empty slots needed to place incoming tiles.

To maintain board stability while delaying clears:

• Reserve Open Slots: Always keep at least one to two slots open in your highest-pressure lanes to handle emergency placements.
• Draft Lasting Defenses: Shift away from temporary row-clear reliance by drafting defensive tiles that block or mitigate damage over multiple rounds.
• Transition by Stage: Clear rows aggressively during the early stages to establish baseline defenses. As enemy density scales in the late game, shift to holding a semi-full board to keep high-value passive combos active through final waves.
