Your aim is to arrange the landscape so its features work together: position structures beside lush forests, wild rivers and grassy plains to gather resources and raise units. Each placement is both a spatial puzzle and a strategic choice, because the realm you build helps determine what you can field when the fighting begins.

Once you have gathered troops, you push into regions held by enemies and work toward storming the enemy fortress. The route branches through procedurally generated paths, with choices that can lead through lakes, glades, forests and villages, as well as markets and guilds. Those stops shape a run in different ways: markets and guilds let you trade, while the terrain-building puzzle supplies resources and units for the campaign ahead. Combat raises the stakes of each decision, since too much damage to your castle ends the run. You then start again with a new strategy, carrying forward experience that helps unlock more content rather than treating defeat as a complete reset.

Deckbuilding and long-term progression give those runs room to develop. More than 110 unique cards let you work toward a deck that suits your approach, while three playable factions—the Duchy, the Order and the Republic—provide distinct campaign choices. Over 90 missions form the meta-progression, adding challenges to pursue across repeated attempts. Because each run is procedurally generated, you must adapt your tile placements, troop gathering and route choices to the path in front of you instead of relying on an identical sequence every time. The central loop is easy to describe but demanding to master: build a productive realm, assemble forces, choose where to travel, reclaim territory and try to reach the fortress before your castle falls.

On PC, a larger display can make the relationship between terrain and structures easier to read while you decide where each tile will have the most useful effect. It also gives you more room to inspect the branching route and weigh a village, forest, lake or trading stop against the risks of the next stretch. Mouse input suits the careful placement that defines the puzzle side, while keyboard-and-mouse controls provide a practical way to manage repeated decisions as you move between building, choosing a path and preparing troops. These are useful advantages for a game whose tension comes from making many connected choices: an arrangement that produces resources now may affect your forces later, and a route that offers a useful stop still has to lead toward the enemy fortress.
